Have been to Buen Dia twice, and came away disappointed both times. The first time (in January), I got the Tres Leches pancakes and they were like chewing on a sponge (tough and chewy). The waitress also wasn't terribly attentive on that visit (not paying attention to drink orders, leaving the table alone for too long, etc) However, we believe in trying things twice. Maybe it was just an off day, or maybe the fact that I was having a bad week was coloring my view of things. We returned, yet again, in April to give it another shot, aaaaaaaaaand... Disappointed, once again. I ordered the chilaquiles poblanos. The waitress asked how I'd like my egg cooked, I said "Over easy, please" and the first thing I notice about the dish is that the egg is cooked to oblivion. Fried to the point of being inedible. Upon further inspection of the dish, I noticed that the chilaquiles weren't ACTUALLY chilaquiles at all. In fact, they were more like nachos. Over half of the chips were dry, which shouldn't be a thing since you're supposed to toss the chips in the sauce. It was obvious that hadn't been done. I can honestly say that I've had better and more authentic Mexican food at home, and we're some of the whitest people...
Read moreWhen I walked in, the hostess greeted me in Spanish, and got me to a table right away. The waitress then greeted me in Spanish, and when she heard me struggling to reply she immediately switched to English for me. Then one of the owners, Jessi, came over for a chat and greeted me in Spanish while asking if I spoke Spanish. When I responded un poquito (a little), she also switched to English for me. She explained that the owners want to share the cooking from the way they grew up in Mexico. The noise level was moderate. The decor and music also had a great Mexican vibe, and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the traditionales with chorizo, and the egg on top was over easy. The beans were amazing. I am looking forward to going back to try other items on their menu. I grew up in Southern California with tons of great Mexican food, and have traveled all over Mexico. If you want good, authentic Mexican food in Wilmington, with friendly service, and a happy vibe, then you deserve to visit Buen Dia because you will surely have a good day...
Read moreStopped here for breakfast on a whim, as I was craving something taco-ey, oniony, and cilantro-ey for breakfast. I got the birria bowl, and it did not disappoint! The avocado was so fresh and green, the perfect ripeness. The meat was so tender and flavorful. The rice, cheese, cilantro, and onion were all in perfectly reasonable ratios, although I like my toppings to be extra so next time I'll probably ask for double cilantro and onion. The decor is absolutely beautiful. Nice welcoming atmosphere, super comfortable lighting and seating.oh and the craziest part - the food came out less than 5 mins after we ordered. It was nuts in the best possible way. Our server was also such a sweetheart! Theres a full bar as well, although we didn't partake in alcoholic beverages on this visit. We live about 40 mins away in Bolivia, but we will...
