I HATE to do this. Hong Kong used to be my absolute favorite take out. Unfortunately, something has changed in the past year. Let's start with the positive; the dumplings have changed FOR THE BETTER. They used to be way more doughy and mushy and sometimes had an odd odor to them. In the last few months they changed into a different style from a Momo style, to more of a Gyoza style and before last night were way better. But, the photo I post with this review are the dumplings from last night. They were burnt. They didn't mention anything and stapled the bag before my husband could see what they were perfectly fine with sending us home with.
In the 3 years we've order from Hong Kong they'd never gotten our order wrong, but they did last night. I ordered a pint of chicken and they gave us a combo dish and charged us for it. They used the have the best Spring Rolls I've ever had. They were crunchy with fresh ingredients and had a complex, yet subtle, layered flavor. Twice I've order them in the last 8 months or so and they are different. Once the inside was like mush, soggy and disgusting. The next was last night, thinking the other time was an off night, but they were so disappointing. They weren't as mushy, but they were not as fresh as they used to be and the flavor was totally different. 3 other times we've order things that I've ordered countless times before, beef and broccoli, chicken with cashews, broccoli by itself, and it's different now. It's like the sauces on everything have too much cornstarch or some kind of thickening agent and it feels like it coats the inside of your mouth. It's a noticeable different on almost every dish I've tried. And what doesn't taste different (sesame chicken) or better (dumplings), the quality has gone down in that it’s over cooked or burnt. I’m honestly so sad about what's happened and writing this review. I loved it before and I have no idea what's changed. I've searched others' reviews to see if it's just me or if anyone else has noticed the shift, but so far it's just me. Maybe other customers just stopped eating there, but this small town has so few options. I thought we we're so lucky to find a great place so close by, but I think last night has to be the 3rd strike. This...
Read moreWhen they first opened around 10 years ago, I lived nearby and I would eat here twice a week. Ive moved around alot and have gone a year or more without visiting. I ordered from here last night. The same things I've always ordered. The Vegetable Lo mein is not even worth it. There are carrot sticks instead of the flat jagged slices, absolutely no cabbage, and no baby corn or mushrooms. Last night I received vegetable lo mein with only onions, a few carrot sticks and broccoli. I ate a third of it before dumping it out to see where the rest of it was...only to discover I paid 8 dollars for mostly noodles. I will eventually go back and give them another chance because I know they had to close alot during covid and this is a family run restaurant with 2 boys barely out of...
Read moreThe first time I ate here was on March 17, 2020. The staff was pretty friendly, and it looked to be pretty clean. I ordered the General Tso chicken combination. Which came with the General Tso chicken, pork fried rice and an egg roll. The chicken was not too bad, just not what I was used to. It had a different flavor. The egg roll was ok. But the rice, oh my goodness! It tasted like it was made with box "rice-a-roni." It was horrible. I could have made that at home. So needless to say this is a location I will not be going back.
