Taqueria La Plaza — Restaurant in Wilson

I’ve been coming here for some time. First time dining in was terrible. I’m a server myself and I completely understand being under staffed. But the customer service from our server was TERRIBLE. Not once did she check up. Our flautas came out burnt. NOT crispy, they were BURNT. How am I supposed to eat something that’s rock hard? So I asked for them to kindly remake them. She didn’t like that. So anyways she went to the back and had the cooks remake them and brought them to us. They were much better and we enjoyed them. Long story short she charged us for both. And NEVER gave us a check to look over. She came to the table and told us a total that was it. Then after gave us a Receipt. I looked it over and saw she charged us for both. I asked her to kindly give us our money back for the one that we didn’t eat. She said “No they’re supposed to be crispy we can’t take it off”. She said “well I thought you knew that” I’ve never been to a restaurant where if you aren’t satisfied with something you have to pay for it AND the the second. Usually they comp the one you didn’t eat. So I said “well you should have mentioned that prior to bringing us more” I then asked her to speak to the owner or manager and she told me no that no one was there to talk to and to come back some other time. First time going here and based off the other bad reviews it looks like we had the same experience with terrible customer service. First of all the restaurant was very cold inside during mid winter no heat or anything so I was already uncomfortable. Secondly, i ordered the flautas and they came out rock hard and very hard to chew off as it also seemed it could have been a little stale. My boyfriend said something to our server and like the previous review mentioned as well, this lady had no emotion or anything which made our time there unpleasant. She offered nothing to fix our flautas that my boyfriend mentioned twice to her as he tried it as well and said its not good and hard. She said next time ask for it softer? Then we go to pay and again my boyfriend kindly said listen were not trying to get the meal comped off we just want to make you aware we didnt enjoy it. She seemed to be annoyed didnt say anything and basically shrugged it off and said okay. We were going to leave a tip and she handed us a receipt and said thats your copy and just walked away. The worse customer service ive ever dealt with in a restaurant and it seems like other reviewers experienced this same no emotion server as well! The meat dishes such as the tacos de carne and enchiladas verdes were very, very salty--to the point of being inedible. The vegetarian dishes, such as the burrito, were mediocre. The guacamole and chips were the highlight of the meal.

When we entered, there was no one attending so we weren't sure if we were to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. We eventually sat ourselves and went up to the counter to get our own menus. A server eventually came out from the back and took our order. We waited 20 mins for our food so I wouldn't recommend it for a short lunch break. There seemed to be a lot of take out orders being phoned in and it appeared that they took priority over the seated customers.

It was very noisy as the employees in the back were watching one t.v. program and in the dining area there was another t.v. with another program blaring. It was difficult to converse.

Additionally, I give it one star because all of the food is served on styrofoam plates with plastic cutlery. I can't even imagine how much waste they produce on a daily basis. The environmental consequences of their practice just can't be overlooked no matter how...
