Took my second oldest out to eat at Western Sizzlin in Wilson. We were going out to celebrate her Birthday and to have dinner because I just didn’t feel like cooking. I had buffet and so did my daughter. My son wanted hamburger steak which happens to be one of the kid’s favorite. The restaurant was full but not too full. My daughter asked my son to go up with her as she fixed her plate. I waited at the table. The waitress came over to me to re- examine my ticket claiming to double check to make sure I received the necessary discount. She then went on to say that my son who did not pay for buffet, had gone up to fix a plate. I assured her that he only went up with my daughter to assist her with hers. She was trying to go ahead and get what she wanted on two plates to avoid the extra trip. I started to get agitated but then I paused. I’m sure people come in for buffet and cheat by eating a steak and trying something on the buffet through someone else’s plate but It would have been beneficial to her if she had waited a moment before assuming to see if he had actually sat down and began eating from the buffet before she accused him. He walked back to the table and sat down waiting patiently for his food until his meal came. We had no problem paying for whatever we wanted. I just wish the waiter would have kindly observed the situation before she made her assumption. We ate, left a decent tip and talked about the situation on the way home. We felt liked she kept a watch on him to make sure he only ate from his plate. My son has anxiety issues and he really does not like eating out that much, he prefers being home. He enjoys the hamburger steak plain and dry. He asked that we not go out there to dine in again. If you are a waitress, learn when it is the best moment to assume your customer is taking advantage of a situation. Don’t just assume. Now as far as my family going out to dine again, we will think twice before allowing my son to assist anyone with carrying a plate to the table when he is not ordering buffet. Humbly...
Read moreAm giving three stars because of the amazing staff at this establishment, from the cashiers to our waitresses Hannah and Emily, they were all extremely kind and accommodating. We ordered a sirloin tip dinner (medium rare) a steak (medium rare) and shrimp dinner and a hot bar. The shrimp were grilled, but bland and flavorless, the sirloin tips were a toss up, half were medium rare, half were well done, the hot bar had alot of options, enjoyed the turkey and stuffing, collards and salad bar, the fried chicken, while hot, had a scorched taste, and was dry, the fish were over cooked and scorched tasting as well, maybe it was the grease they were cooked in, the other tables around us were also commenting on it. I do realize it's hard to season some foods when you are serving a large group of people who may have certain dietary needs, but generally there is some flavor to what you are eating, even off of a buffet. Our total came out to just under $34.00 which I thought was reasonable, but our experience with the staff was stellar!!! You can tell these people enjoy what they do and aren't just showing up for a paycheck. Today was our first experience at this particular establishment, I am hoping it was just an "off" day for them, we may try them again, but not anytime in the near future. And big thanks again to Hannah and Emily for...
Read moreThis is Bubba "Big BM" Mack at the scene. This place is flat out great!! You gotta come by, then some time down the road, you gotta go. I'll close that loop in a moment. But first an observation: I'm a big man with a big truck, a big gut and a big mouth. I work from home, so I watch a lot of TV, mostly news shows. I have concluded that Larry Sabato from UVA who does political commentary is also the My Pillow guy. Think about it - have you ever seen them on at the same time?? Back to the restaurant. The buffet is sublime. I was able to find almost everything except Lobster Newburg. I know that's unusual, but it really happened. Even so, I can't take any points away for that - the selections in the aggregate are fantastic. And let's face it, that's really what it's all about. A good balanced plate equals a good BM Kit. If more people thought of their BM as they assembled their meal they would enjoy a more balanced diet and a glorious BM later. I try for a variety of fruits, vegetables and meats with some bread, but no too much. I stay away from cheese in bulk as it tends to lock your bowels. So remember, when you go here you'll need to go later so try and make a good BM Kit instead of eating an unbalanced meal. This is Bubba "Big BM" Mack wishing you a good day...
