We are a school age summer program and we took our 13 students, ages 6-11, to Imagination Station. We signed up for the "whoos food" presentation. When we arrived, we were quickly checked in and given a rundown of where we could find everything. We spent the first part in the upper room learning about the food chain with our awesome guide, our kids loved learning about the food webs and were kept enagaged and entertained. They disected owl pellets and had a fantastic time. After, we explored the animal floor, the kids enjoyed the many varities of snakes, lizards, and turtles. They especially enjoyed the 15 ft. Python! The upper floor was being used for a class, just as well, since it was all paintings, probably wouldn't hold their interest very long. Their favorite part was definitely the first floor, in the Body-ology exhibit with interactive exercise equipment, A rock wall, a race the wild game, and many more things to do!! The other part of the museum seems unfinished right now, but they were able to enjoy the kalidescope, the giant scale, and the head on a platter illusion. The focal point of the room, A huge computer interactive globe, let's the kids explore different weather patterns, and even different planets. What I liked most was the interactive displays, it wants just standing around looking at things which with small children gets boring pretty quick. I also liked that it wasn't overly bright, noisy, or crowded, as we had a child with Autism in our group, he was able to participate and enjoy himself as well. We didn't get much of a chance to explore the gift shop, but it's got a decent variety, and about as reasonably priced a gift shop I have seen. Im giving 4 stars but only because of the unfinshed exhibits, and parking was pretty difficult, we had a large van and getting in and out was a little challenging. Otherwise, we absolutely enjoyed ourselves, and we will definitely add this to put list of must do trips for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have so many thoughts after leaving this placeā¦.. So we stopped here randomly after visiting Its a Zoo Life (highly recommend!). I was happy to see a kids museum within a close distance, but a bit worried because we only had 1.5 hours to get thru it. That wouldnāt end up being an issue at all. It was Saturday at 330 when we got there, and there was one other family there. The first floor is the āinteractiveā section. It was extremely dark, which was super weird. Like they had several overhead lights but only a handful of them were turned on in the whole downstairs space. There was one spot where you could upcycle garbage into creations, a hanging globe, several workout equipment pieces (many if which didnāt work), a virtual reality station (that you had to be 7 years old to try, and a small side room with flat wood blocks. The bee exhibit was not there. And that was it. The second floor was even weirder! There were maybe 15 reptiles in a weird circle. Their cages were a sad site. They have a massive snake inside a small cage with only a bowl of water. Their bearded dragon basically the same length of the cage it was in. Then. There looked to be a room with birds, but there was a sign that said not to go in this area. There were also several hallways and locked doors that led to nothing. It was like half the space was used for the museum and half wasnāt. So onto the third floorā¦and it just gets weirder the higher we go. Itās the history sectionā¦.but itās basically empty. Thereās a bench, a fake fire, a tv, a fake tree, and some pictures on the wall. Also several hallways and doors that are not actually part of the museum. In summaryā¦.Not what I expect from a children's museum at all! Not worth the money. Very dark and eery overall. It was like someone bought a beautiful building and didnāt know what to do with half of itā¦so they threw in some exercise equipment and some lizards and called it a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place could use some love there's no doubt about that. From an adults eyes there is lots of renovation and updating that could be done BUT my son loves it and let's be honest - that's who this place is for. We went for their most recent first Friday event with Sylvan Heights. My nearly three year old LOVED this FREE event and I'm sure he will be asking to return. He pet a duck and chicks, made bird food, tested different beaks(tools) for picking up food, checked out feathers and got to ask some questions. We were also able to explore the rest of the imagination station - he loved the rock climbing walls, racing against different animals and we spent a loooong time upstairs checking out the reptiles. He got to pet various snakes, lizards and a tortoise. We were able to watch an alligator and turtles swim around in their enclosures. It was truly a very fun time and we look forward to participating in more events. The third floor had some looks and information on them which wasn't a great place for me to entertain him but probably would be really interested for kids a little older (in fact the whole thing would've been great for...
