This place usually has a full parking lot, so we thought it would be great...we were definitely wrong. This past Sunday we stopped in for dinner. As soon as we walked in we were looked over, and then ignored by the hostess/checkout lady. At first we thought we were supposed to seat ourselves, but a sign stated otherwise so we patiently waited. When she realized we were not moving she finally grabbed menus, and started walking. The menus were tossed on a table that had an extra large styrofoam cup containing water, and there were takeout containers on the floor. She walked away without saying anything. We sat down thinking maybe someone just hadn't had a chance to clean the table. The busboy brought us chips & salsa, but didn't clean up. We were right by a window unit, and we just recently had a bad storm come through, so we started to think the cup & containers were for collecting rain water, or maybe the AC had been leaking. Our waitress was kind & took our order correctly, but before we could ask about the cup/containers, she left. A group that were apparently friends of a staff member came in & were seated far behind us. They all were catered to in a more professional manner, even receiving their food before us even though their orders were taken a good bit after ours. They were loud, and incredibly vulgar. Nothing was ever said to them. The food was simply bad. You could tell the food was prepared, frozen, and then reheated in the microwave. For example-I had stuffed peppers. The cheese was a solid, cold disc on top. Inside, the peppers were congealed grease with cold, watery meat. The chorizo dip was swimming in its own grease which could have been avoided by simply draining the sausage. Even the chips & salsa tasted old/stale. Disappointing. It is too expensive in this climate to be treated poorly, and then served a frozen dinner in an unsanitary environment. I am not sure how they stay so busy with the amount of people we heard complaining. If you do complain, you are met with attitude or simply ignored. Not that we feel this establishment will care, but we will not be...
Read moreWe ordered Chili Toreados, which were described as one jalepeno and one banana with grilled onions and lime. We've had these at plenty of other locations, so we are familiar with how they are prepared. What we got initially, we're 3 deep fried Jalapeños on a bed of lettuce. I asked about the onions and pointed out the description on the menu.
The 2nd plate was worse than the 1st. We got 1 Jalapeños and one banana pepper and 2 whole green onions, all deep fried on a bed of lettuce. The waitress asked if this is what we were looking for, and we said no. We wanted them on a bed of grilled onions like on a fajita platter, and the peppers roasted, like traditionally served. I pointed again to the menu, she took it and thought she was going to show the cook or manager. She came back 10 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order, which we were not still waiting on the correct toreados. She left and came back in another 10, still empty handed, and so we ordered.
My wife ordered the cheesesteak tacos in flour tortillas, and I ordered 3 hard shell taco supreme with ground beef. Hers came out on corn, and waitress opens up her notebook and shows my wife where she wrote corn. I was sitting there when my wife clearly stated flour when asked when ordering, so that took another 10 minutes. When she got them they were good.
My tacos came out like the toppings were literally tossed on top of the beef inside. So sloppy you couldn't see where the 3 tacos were divided! By the time my wife's order was corrected, the tacos were so soggy the bottoms were dropping out so I tried to make a salad out of it, Lord knows there were enough toppings for one! However, the beef was so salty, couldn't do it, and I love things salty! Margaritas were very good however! Maybe people get a bit tipsy which makes the food and service bearable!
Needless to say there are plenty of good options around, just not sure how they have been around as long as they have...
Read moreCame here on a recommendation that the food was very good. Upon entering the establishment we were about to be seated near the entrance. Noticed right away the chiming of the door so we requested to be seated in the dining area to the left. Note... even while dining the constant chiming of the door was an auditory nuisance. We sat at a 2 person booth that will only accommodate one drink a piece, chips with dip and one plate a piece. Any more than that is over the top clutter and the dining experience is hampered by the accumulation of dinnerware. There was a group of 6 we assume was celebrating, which I heard when we entered the establishment. With their being loud it made it very trying to relax and enjoy our meal and conversation. Our waiter on first impression was good and attentive. After the second encounter and subsequent encounters it dramatically changed. I will say he was busy with other diners so with that grace is given. My boyfriend liked his meal, me however was unable to enjoy the ambience of our date with the above mentioned. While I sipped my drink I noticed there were highchairs at the fire exit which could hamper exiting in an emergency. We did like the place and will visit again soon. Suggestion. Add a Poblano Peppers appetizer...
