I’ve been going to Char Koon on/off since 2002 when I first moved to Windsor. I moved out of state in 2015 and moved back in November this year. I recalled how good their food used to be and paid them a visit today. Firstly, I asked the young man about fried crispy bagged wonton noodles they used to sale. He said they don’t sell it and never have?!? I clearly recall the oily baggies of fried noodles. So I said ok for the sake of argument. Looking at him, I could tell he probably was very young back in 2002 so he probably wouldn’t recall. But he seemed so matter of fact in his response. Nonetheless, he didn’t offer up what they do have in relation to crispy noodles which are the standard strips. I literally pulled up their website that advertised crispy noodles for 75¢. He charged me 80¢ for the bag. Again, I did not argue the point. So I get my order of steamed meat dumplings and egg rolls. I get home ready to enjoy a delicious meal; I was sadly disappointed. The dumplings while generous in the meat filling, were wrapped in thick gobs of dough. Much too much for my mouth to chew and enjoy without feeling like I would choke. I’ve had dumplings where the meat to dough ratio were perfect. This was just absolutely awful! Clearly the cooks of yesteryear are no longer manning the kitchen. What a waste of drive time on a cool/rainy day and of course waste of money. Most of my money sits in a tray of thick, under-steamed, meatless...

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR SERVICE!

I went to Char Koon last night to order food for two. I asked for spicy shrimp lo mein and shrimp & broccoli w steamed rice. The guy at the desk tells me $27 and I said hmm I wonder if I made the wrong order because it’s usually never this much. He cut me off when I began to ask how much each order was and yelled at me saying “YOU ordered cuz. That’s how much it is. This is Windsor.” I was so taken aback that I kept my mouth shut. I wasn’t tipping at that point.. He throws my receipt on the counter to sign and I honestly wanted to walk out of there. He made me so uncomfortable. After I signed, he snatched the receipt. I live literally one minute out of the plaza. When I open the stapled bag of food, I see that there is the sauce from the shrimp and broccoli everywhere, all over the bottom of the bag and swore it was this guy’s retaliation for simply asking about the price. He was SO rude and I will never give them my service or money again. Do not go here. Bad customer service and I feel like I truly wasted my money. Wish I could...

We ordered take out from here after our regular place shut down, and wow! Some of the best tofu I've ever had! It practically melted in my mouth. The vegetable dumplings were also incredible - I couldn't stop eating!

The only complaint we had was the packaging was a little flimsy - we had a few minor leaks - my partners soup leaked a little, and the sauce for our dumplings popped open. That said, it didn't affect the bag at all, so still a 5 star experience!

(My partner says "Yummy. The egg rolls were really good, and the dumplings were too. I almost feel like the appetizers were better than the main courses, but I'm not...

I work close by and order from them very often. They serve the most delicious Chinese food in the area. Some of my favorites are the House lo Mein and Singapore noodles. There’s always so much of everything, and it’s is addictively delicious… I usually eat these by myself and then am so full, I feel I can be rolled away. It’s a great feeling. They use very fresh, HUGE shrimp most of the time and they are not stingy with the meat. The fried scallops are also a nice treat, and so are the bbq pork ribs with white rice. I do not recommend the seafood soup, but overall, this is my favorite Chinese restaurant in CT.

The food here is just..bad. I kept giving it a try because of the convenience of the location but there’s another Chinese store 6 mins away called Peking way more worth it and CHEAPER. Not to mention the guy in the front is incredibly rude. The chicken wing still had feather on multiple wings. The fries tasted warmed up not fried at all.. idk what they’re doing back there and the wings were burnt. Oh and this costed me almost $20 (really $17) i wish i was joking..

Order General Tao Chicken with plain rice . The rice looked used in the carton they gave me . It had soy sauce on it and looked as though it was left overs . The chicken taste funny as though it was from overnight or something. Stomach was hurting the next day after having just a couple bites . Tossed it in the garbage and didn’t waste my one eating anymore of it .
