Bread of Heaven Soul Food Restaurant — Restaurant in Winston-Salem

I went here because ‘Ken Cooks’ was closed today and I wanted some soul food. That was the worse decision I have EVER made!! I walk in and approach the counter. There was no greeting from the two ladies standing there, talking about upcoming orders; I should have left then. So I stand there and the lady finally takes my order. The couple behind me places their order and she tells them the macaroni is still cooking but she NEVER said anything to me! (I also ordered macaroni), sigh 😔. As I am waiting (25 minutes) I see them put food in the microwave to heat up; what in the world!! The portions were……see pics below, shameful and the food not good. I love supporting local businesses but I will never eat there again. I don’t see them lasting long without doing a major overhaul. I had a taste for some soul food and googled it so this restaurant comes up. I saw turkey wings, oxtails, turkey necks……some real home cooking. I called to inquire about the turkey wings and was told they wouldn’t be ready for another 2 hours but everything else was ready. So I took the ride there and no oxtails. So I decided on turkey necks, dressing, and macaroni on one plate and Pigfeet, cabbage, and pinto beans on the other. The turkey necks had cooked so long that the bones were gritty, the dressing was served in a small container drowned in gravy and macaroni wasn’t seasoned. My son said it was all a no for him. The Pigfeet plate was so skimpy but it didn’t matter because they were overly spicy and overcooked. The cabbage tasted spoiled…. I am ONLY rating service here because WHY ISNT YOUR ADDRESS UPDATED ON GOOGLE!? I don’t care that you put up a sign at the old location. Ain’t nobody got time to drive to two spots because you did not update your information on Google or website. Out of towners like myself look on Google for the latest! So us driving around looking for your business for 15 mins, after placing an online order, no call to inform us, our food is getting cold…is ridiculous!

This is for all the other out of towners or locals who want to try this place out so you don’t waste the drive!
