I attended an event on Aug. 4th with my friend who found this event on Eventbrite for Black Theatre Week. We purchased VIP tickets and were excited to go.
Reasons for my 1 star review The tickets stated the event starts at 11 AM. We enter the venue at 11:11 and was told that the event starts at noon. We come back at 12:05, shown to our seats. The tables in the VIP sections were dirty. I asked if the table could be wiped down but the lady who helped us forgot. The tickets stated that there will be a mimosa wall where we could get endless mimosas while supplies last. We received one mimosa and were told that they had to purchase more Prosecco.
The pianist was not completely set up until around 1 but did not start playing yet. By 1:30, my friend and I had to leave because we had other engagements to attend.
There was a pair of siblings who sat next to us and stated that they have been to the venue before and love to support black businesses. Even though the event started late and seemed as though there was not a well thought out plan for preparation, the siblings stated they will still support the business. However, they were later approached by the owner and told they were spreading negativity when they simply wanted to provide constructive feedback. It seemed as though the owner did not want to listen to anything they had to say. The siblings did not yell, nor were condescending. They did not start a scene. They were very respectful.
Needless to say, I was very disappointed and will not be returning. Especially after my friend stated she puked after consuming the food. If you have an event, please start on time. If you know you are going to start late, please let people know as soon as possible. Most of us plan out our days. It was disrespectful to our time. This event was money wasted. The only good I can say is the lady who showed us to our seats was...
Read more1st timer here been craving some soulfood and this place came up. Customer service was good she was really nice, I ordered the fried fish with cabbage and collards.. The fish had a strong odor that I wasn't to fond of (mind you I eat Alot of fish) but overall I give it 4 out of 10 the cabbage ion kno wat that was about it was crunchy for sum reason definitely under cooked I've never had crunchy cabbage before give that 3 out of 10 and the collards were decent looked fresh 6 out of 10 but for $17 I'd expect a entire scoop of sides not that portion controlled amount.. but I just checked and Google says they were about to close so maybe I just got what was left and if that was the case I would hope the chef would recommend a different side instead of scraping the pot and giving me wateva that was left. The lady walking around I could only assume to be Sonya seemed very sweet and I hope this restaurant works out well for her but if I was her I would check every order before it left that kitchen and made sure it was up to my expectations bkuz one thing for sure everyone is not gon care about ur baby the way you do! I will return not gon say it's a fail sometimes it takes time and I understand that. Hopefully my next visit is a better...
Read moreWe attended a Vip event today August 4th, 2024. We arrived at the restaurant at 11:40 am for the event that was supposed to begin at 11. Doors were closed and setup was not complete. We left and came back around 12:30 pm. We were approached when we came back and had too ask to be seated and seated without menus. I was verbally attacked because I complained about the event being set up late and I was not treated with vip like I have been at previous vip events. I was very disrespected by Sonya and Joi and was told I was spreading negativity because I asked questions. I was told I could receive a refund and I am unable to receive a refund for the next event that I prepurchased for. I am very good about supporting uprising black businesses and I'm very disappointed and will not be attending anymore events with...
