Tsukiyomi Sushi Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Winter Haven

I was very hopeful about this place, as I always am when there is a chance to elevate the dining scene in Winter Haven! We have eaten here 3 times now and I feel like I can put down a fair assessment of the place. Let me start by saying that the sushi here is the best in town. For what they are, they are certainly creative and fairly well done. That's the good (and not saying a lot) The fish choices are mediocre at best, if you really like a variety of fish or Otoro you won't find it here. We ordered a combination fried rice dish for our kids that was complete devoid of vegetables. There is a male server whom I have seen all three times and is neither friendly or not friendly but very intense. The other wait staff have been welcoming enough, however the service every time we have been to the restaurant has been abysmally slow. The rolls come out at a snails pace and they are very stingy about the wasabi. When we go to a restaurant, I am willing to pay prices determined by the quality of the food. We appreciate good service with enthusiastic tipping when warranted. This place is neither worth the high price of the food nor has the service been commanding of enthusiasm. If it's great sushi you are looking for, it will have to be a trip to Orlando or Tampa.

Our sushi place closed in Lakeland and reopened in Georgia😞 So we have been coming here since we live in Winter Haven. When you walk in no one ever says hello or welcomes you. The sushi chefs keep their head down the entire time and never say a word to you. I’ve sat there for 20 minutes without ever being acknowledged before and no they were not packed. We have tried this place so many times and want to love it because we like the tuna crackers appetizer, but the sushi rolls are just okay and the service makes the experience really uncomfortable. They have also overcharged my card twice now and it is the same girl that does it. She put extra food on our check and charged our card, when I said something she offered a $10 gift card for next time, which didn’t even completely cover what she charged. She is not polite and if you say anything she smirks like she couldn’t care less. I’m disappointed because we would love to really enjoy this place, it has the potential if they had people in there that cared. For the money you spend here, the experience should...

First, the female that greeted us was super polite and likewise the only one to thank us for coming.

Our waitress was - well not a great experience. She never introduced herself so I didn't get her name. I can tell you that she was not in a hurry to bring us anything. She disappeared several times. We had only 3 in our party. There was no one in the restaurant ordering or no to go orders at the time. We ordered immediately. One person in our party ordered only rice for her entree. She did not get asked if she wanted it early but received it immediately anyway. We told our guest not to wait on our food because we did not want hers to get cold in the meantime. 40 minutes later we received our rolls. I can't even imagine if it was actually busy in there. She handed us our checks without even checking to see if we were done or wanted dessert. She didn't ask for refills at our table or even let us know what the long wait was for. She tried to take my payment before I was ready to even give it.
