Greater Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce — Attraction in Winter Haven

June 29, 2013 - I tried to take my family to the Indoor Street Festival at Olde Towne Square that we found advertised in one of the free papers as well as on the Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce web site. When we got there we were told it was cancelled. It still doesn't say cancelled on the web site. So I'm giving the CoC a 0 for sleeping on the job. Wonder how many other people went. Pretty lame to advertise events for kids and not bother to post anything about it being cancelled. We took our son half an hour from home at dinner time to go to this event because there were two restaurants mentioned in the ad as places available to eat there. Of course the one we wanted to eat at, Elmo and Linda's, was closed so it's past dinner time and we're still trying to find a place to feed our kid. Very unprofessional of the Winter Haven CoC. I regret that you had a disappointing experience with a cancelled event. I only learned of your review this day. Our Community Calendar is presented as a public service and while we screen postings, once they appear, it is up to the presenting organization to cancel such a listing. That being said we regret when anyone is disappointed. There is a rich variety of events offered free of charge in the community and I encourage you to watch for any of the special Main Street Winter Haven offerings that occur downtown as well as many events such as "Pickin' In the Park" presented in downtown's Central Park each Fall - Spring. Many of these depend on the Chamber's Community Calendar for publicity. You can be assured that if we learn of an event's cancellation, we will remove it.
