Droopy's Gyros — Restaurant in Winthrop Harbor

I was excited by the prices and the menu items at initial get go. BUT, then it comes to ordering. We had ordered the Philly Cheese steak with meat onions, mushrooms and provolone cheese, with EXTRA MEAT. My wife had accidently forgot to say add Mayo. I called them back and they were done with our order and ready to leave the store to make the delivery, but said they would make my order right. If that is the case how did they show up to me In less than five minutes. It tells me that they do not make each sandwich fresh. And the sandwich was opened up and shown to the driven and asked if this had extra meat? He said yes. The sand barely had enough meat for a regular amount of meat for a regular sandwich. They charge you for the extra meat, but never get it. Now let's talk about what they consider good chicken wings. We asked for them to be lightly breaded and not over cooked and no sauce. What we actually received was non-breaded and SEVERELY OVERCOOKED wings. I felt as though I was eating chicken jerk, but a bit more dried out. For a $38.00 dollar order, you would figure that a bit of care and enthusiasm would go into the food that they prepare. Be it known, I would Never refer, or order her again. They staff really didn't care about the product they sell or serve. i rarely give 5 stars. In this case the location is perfect for what they offer, I just hold out the fifth star for a unusually great location. The food and service was awesome. I was pleasantly surprised with a better than expected polish dog that had everything on it. It actually had flavor. I was expecting to order and then have them turn around and 2 seconds later hand me a polish dog pulled from boiling water like at Costco. This was wayyy better. It took a minute for them to prepare because they actually cooked it. It had that wonderful grilled sausage flavor that completely escapes places like Costco. They also loaded it up Chicago style with “everything” which I could not make better if they gave me access to all the toppings to do myself. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Not that the food is bad, just the high school drop outs working there are idiots. Have came there to order food an hour before they were to close, only to find they decided to close an hour early, their excuse was they weren't busy, but with their friends all standing outside smoking cigarettes and talking to the employees. Then decided to order for delivery a few weeks after, an hour before they close again, and got told they just stopped delivery 5 minutes ago, when I called back to ask for a pickup, got told they were actually closing. I don't know who the owner is, but apparently they don't seem to care too much about letting their child employees run the business into the ground....
