Delicious food. Absolutely a great experience.

As a family we had the pleasure of dining at the 90° Restaurant last week to celebrate a birthday. We started with a couple of orders of the crispy fried calamari, which was excellent, and an order of the mulled beet salad, which could not have been better. I ordered the pork chop and asked that the grits be substituted with potatoes. The chop was great and the spinach was prepared perfectly. One very nice touch was the steak knife presented was similar to those used in the very high end steak houses. Others at the table raved about their food as well. They had the plantain encrusted cod on a bed of lentils, roasted chicken which was described as being perfectly cooked and delicious, a pasta dish (sorry I don’t recall the name) which was going to be ordered the next time at the restaurant, a grilled cheese for the young lady at the table and a couple of other dishes that I do not remember. Because the food was so good, many at the table were sharing a taste with others. I am unsure if it was the owner or manager but we could not have been treated better. The location is the former Brothers Restaurant but the interior has been totally and tastily been redone with lovely unique tables, an area in the back that can accommodate a group function and tables specifically able to accommodate wheelchairs. There is a complete bar which has a nice, if limited, wine list. There is ample street parking or parking in the lot around the corner. Winthrop has been fortunate in attracting a number of restaurants to town and I think I have been to them all. This was our 2nd time here. The first time- I would've given the food a 5- which is why we came back- but we will never be going back after this last time. We sat at the bar. Idk who the guy everyone is talking about bc the bartender WE got- was NOT friendly or walking around welcoming people...??? It mustve been the other guys day off bc The bartender we had was unfriendly, didn't speak.. He only acknowledged us once- when we came in and he gave us menus. No smile, no suggestions. He's terrible at customer service. He doesn't speak to you or ask if things are OK or if u need anything. We felt like a hassle & annoyance. You have to get his attention for a refill or napkin- & he seems agitated. The food took over 45 minutes-;My bf got fish- it smelled like fish and he said it was "ok.. but not good" but he was hungry & tried to eat it- I got short rib sliders - they were burnt & blackened- tough & fatty. Really, really gross. They seemed like they were cooked & recooked- idk but they were awful. The bread was so hard you could play baseball. I told the bartender & he didn't care. I didn't eat. The bill was $90 - bf had 2 glasses of wine- I had a soda. The bartender didn't even apologize- he behaved like WE were the problem. We were so turned off- never going back.
