Jennings & Co. — Restaurant in Wisconsin Rapids

In short it was a cold Friday night we came here for a fish fry seated 20 feet from the door, every time somebody open the door we got a cold draft so we had to eat with our coats on! This could be a simple fix... Also we had to wait by the door for seating that was on little bench in the front when they could have easily have put 3 tall tables with chairs, the people waiting would be able to sit down. You couldn't beat the waitresses and all the bartenders that work there they were fantastic! Now the food as far as the fish went was really good and the coating was crispy it's just too bad I had such a small portion. Admittingly, I'm not asking for a bucket load of fish just a reasonable two piece.. Same with the potato salad it was, alright but such a small portion. You couldn't beat the coleslaw, that's got to be the best around! I thought the pretzel bun was a fantastic idea it's just too bad it was so cold my butter couldn't melt in it and it's as if it came from outside! The wait for this still was a little over an hour in which I thought was a little long but I understood it was busy. I found two bathrooms in this establishment, excluding female-only. The main floor bathroom for the men's was rather small and a little dirty. The bathroom upstairs was very clean and kept and this bathroom was a unisex bathroom. All in all the inside gave you the feel of an Old Fashioned Saloon. Floor-to-ceiling gave you the feel of the 19th century and I really like that! Our family and friends went out to dinner last night at Jennings because it’s one of our favorite places. We had 6 adults and 5 young kids. As a former server, I understand how our group could look a little overwhelming, but was quite surprised that the server showed such annoyance in her words and actions. She quickly told us that there was only one highchair after we arrived, and then, as we waited, told us to not let our kids get too rowdy or loud. Understandable but to say that to customers who, at this point had the group under control, gave us all the impression that we were not wanted there. After waiting a few minutes to see if another table would move, we decided that we would rather take food to go and sit across the street.

The wait wasn’t too bad, about 30 minutes but when we went to pick it up, a 20% gratuity was already added to our bill. Again I understand that with large parties gratuity will be added however, we were a to go order. We had never been seated. Also, half of the meals were kids meals. It seems odd to tip a server 20% when you did not serve us and in fact, made us feel like an inconvenience. One of our orders did not have the chip dip in it so when a friend went back in to grab it, he was additionally charged, even though it should have been included. At this point, we were hungry, and already felt like a burden so he paid the extra money and we left. Needless to say, we will not be dining there with our families or big...

Alright, so locals know this place and it's a really awesome place, especially if you're looking for something to eat during the day. Awesome staff will greet you and kindly take your order as well attend to your adult beverage needs. And they do have a variety, I hope i spelled that right. But anyways it's an experience you have to come and feel yourself. Mike will make ya feel like an old friend (he's easily relatable, but maintains an individuality) he will be your friend through your time here. To be honest when you're here you are truly family.
