Grand Avenue Tavern — Restaurant in Wisconsin Rapids

We went to 2 other restaurants in Rapids and they were packed so we ended up coming here. There were maybe 4 other people which thinking back says alot. Service was terrible - bartender didn't know much - ordered a Manhattan and after I saw her make one for my mother-in-law I decided against it - when she made one it filled maybe a quarter of a martini glass - she didn't understand the concept of 2 parts whisky.. one part sweet vermouth.. couple shakes of bitters done - just google it. Then when I asked what beers were on tap she had no idea what kind of beers they were she just knew the breweries. It took a good 20 minutes to even get a drink. Food was mediocre - I got nachos and then were made with the lowest quality of ingredients. I didn't finish them and that says alot. Steven and Raquel are really nice servers. The Italian menu has a lot of options and GREAT prices. We had a unique deep fried mozzarella stuffed rice (resembling risotto) appetizer in marinara sauce. These balls were the size of pickleballs and three came in the order for $10!! We also had mushroom risotto and added a chicken breast. The chicken breast was amazing and the mushroom risotto was good but probably wouldn't have lived up to our expectations without the chicken breast. The atmosphere is really nice but if you're looking for a restaurant, the tables are all pub height which I know isn't comfortable for everyone so keep that in mind. Oh where to start! Jeff the bartender! Oh he is wonderful! So funny and attentive. He alone made our stay at the hotel worthwhile! Cannot say enough great things about him and the service he provided! Lots of fun people to socialize with and don't forget to get some food. Pizzas are amazing! Jeff also provided everyone with amazing popcorn to munch on. So much fun! So glad we came out of our to check out the bar. Thanks to Jeff, we didn't stay for one, but created a memorable night for our birthday getaway!...
