Walking into the café feels like stepping into a carefully preserved pocket of time. The first thing that draws your attention is the pair of towering glass brewers, slowly and elegantly producing cold drip coffee. Their graceful presence, paired with the intoxicating aroma of freshly ground beans, makes it nearly impossible to resist ordering more than one cup. And if that weren’t enough, the café also offers siphon-brewed coffee—a rare spectacle in California, where legal restrictions have nearly erased this enchanting method from the scene. But the charm doesn’t stop at brewing techniques. The café takes pride in offering an impressive range of machines and an equally diverse selection of beans, giving the impression of a place that is both passionate and meticulous about its craft. The interior is just as thoughtfully designed: romantic vintage décor, paired with nostalgic, timeworn music, slows the pace of life. Here, time stretches, and all that remains is the quiet joy of savoring a cup of coffee. The food deserves its own spotlight. Take the sandwiches, for example—clean, fresh, and satisfyingly flavorful. They are prepared with such care that there’s no messy dripping or greasy aftertaste, just lightness and balance that elevate a simple bite into something memorable. What truly surprised me, though, was the café’s relationship with its regulars. Even on a crowded day when the line stretched long, staff members called out several customers by name before they even placed their orders. That kind of warm familiarity can’t be faked—it speaks of a café deeply rooted in its community, a place where people don’t just drink coffee, but belong. And just when I thought I’d noticed every detail, there was one last revelation: their iced coffee comes with ice cubes made from coffee itself, not ordinary water. As the cubes melt, the drink doesn’t lose its strength—instead, the flavor deepens. It’s a small but brilliant touch, proof that this café doesn’t just serve coffee; it creates an experience worth remembering.

First time here and not the last. Luckily it wasn't crowded on the rainy Saturday morning we visited. There's a lot of coffee to choose from so I narrowed the 2 I wanted to try - Yemen Mocha or Sumatra Mandheling. I asked the young lady at the cashier which of the two she would recommend. A man standing next to her behind the counter responded, "they are all good". 😆 I get that they are all good and coffee is subjective but it was bit disappointing to get that response. Regardless, they have an interesting selection, which we will return and try. Got a Yemen Mocha pour over and an iced latte. I was concerned that the Yemen Mocha has "coconut" in the flavor profile. At hotter temp, it's barely there but more of it seem to come out as the coffee cools. Neutral enough but I personally would try something else next time. The hubs liked his iced latte and describes it to be fairly consistent strength from start to finish. He always complains at other places that it tastes great at first then more watered/milked down before he's done. Glad to find a place near us to try more coffees. Hope to discover more in the next visit.

Update: highly recommend: we finally got to try ‘Peter’s Coffee Lab’ pour over and Syphon coffee. Syphon coffee is so cool to watch. Peter’s Dad is the king of coffee knowledge! They also sell in house roasted coffee beans and selection of tea. Everything is so good- we love the breakfast sandwich on croissant, butter rum muffin, and salmon sandwich. Salad and lunch sandwiches are very good as well. I want to publicly thank Peter for these little joys for my family during the pandemic (perfect coffee and food that stay yummy until we get home!) and creating a community where people feel known and appreciated. Review 4 yrs ago: Awesome coffee. Love 'Peter's special' matcha latte w a shot of espresso.

I went here for the first time a couple days ago, and I was amazed to see the cozy Christmas decorations as soon as I walked in, which really invited me to explore this little coffee shop. I can tell the owner, Peter, is very passionate about his work and customer service with how he greets and says goodbye to his customers when they come and go. I'm not a coffee person, but I came here after someone recommended their sandwiches, and let me tell you, they are amazing. I got the tuna fish sandwich, which was really tasty, and the chicken sandwich to go, and they both tasted awesome. I will definitely come back here in the future. Besides the great food, as I briefly explained earlier, the atmosphere is something I've never seen in a coffee shop; it just makes you want to sit down and appreciate it while you eat and drink. I've never understood when people go to Starbucks to get work done, but for BKC I completely understand. There are plenty of comfortable spots to sit down to get work done or relax to the lovely Christmas music or any other...
