If i could give this place a zero stars i would. We had to seat ourselves since no one would seat us. The pizza was beyond inedible. We made it clear to our waitress that we were ordering our arugula pizza with just cheddar cheese instead of 3 cheeses by repeating ourselves about 4 times since one of us had an allergy. After about 20 or so minutes our waitress comes back out and asks us what cheese we want on our pizza before she puts the order in. We say cheddar and ask "the pizza hasnt gone in yet?" she says oh yes it has and then leaves again for another 10 minutes and arrives with a burnt, rubbery, multiple cheesed pizza with tomato and ham on it. We explained that we ordered an arugla pizza with only cheddar but we would eat this if it was only cheddar and she said it was, which it wasnt and she said she would take it off the bill. None of us could even chew the pizza, nevermind stomach it. The taste, appearance, & texture of it was disgusting, and lets not talk about how over-priced everything is on their menu. We explained to the waitress that we were happy she took it off the bill since it tasted so bad. We ask for the bill and it doesnt come after that. A man comes out to us giving us a dirty look and rudely says "Can i help you?" We say that we were waiting for the bill and he says "what about the pizza?" and we said that they gave us the wrong one with multiple cheeses and it wasnt even the arugula and he says "who gets pizza with cheddar? That would make it taste bad" We tried to tell him that there were multiple cheeses on it and that it was nothing like what we ordered but he proceeded to talk over us very rudely saying that it was our fault for ordering the pizza with just cheddar. I asked if he could get the bill as soon as possible after he had walked away from us not even ending the conversation. After he said yes he never came back out and we wernt going to wait forever so we found our waitress and i gave her the money and we left, only to see on our way out that someone left their nasty pizza outside on one of the many tables that wernt cleaned off from previous customers. Who puts cheddar on a pizza? There was a place in Cambridge ma that was open for many years that served delicious cheddar pizza(Cheddars Pizzeria). That pizza needed all the cheddar it could get on its inedible cardboard crust. Cafeteria pizza is better than whatever they serve. Do not even think about trying this place unless youre prepared for what theyll dish out to you. I mean that food...
Read moreThis is just a burger and pizza place. Everything else is like a Bickfords in that most everything is frozen and not fresh. We were a party of four on a Saturday night. The kitchen was very much behind on everything, and our hostess did keep us updated, which was helpful. The salmon and meatloaf steak tips were overly cooked and not edible. The manager comped some of our food, which we thank him for. The deserts would be a 2.5. I gave them a 3 for atmosphere, and it wasn't their fault, but they could have said something to the parents that allowed their kids to run around like it was Chucky Cheese. Why parents can't control their kids makes for a very uncomfortable evening. We prayed that nobody would get hurt as the kids were funny up and down the aisles where people and staff were moving hot food. So, if we ever go there again, it will be just a hamburger or a pizza and drinks.
Responding to your reply:
When you respond using personal attacks, that certainly tells me about your character. Had you responded professionally, I would have removed my review, and the fact that you mentioned my friend's name on a public forum shows that you sir should never be in a manager's role. That was unprofessional and out of line. My friend thought the wings were okay, but he ordered medium-rare steak tips, which were well done. He is not one to complain, so he didn't say anything to you about it.
I did say in my review that you comped us, which was much appreciated, and that our server kept us up to date on what was happening in the kitchen. She was very kind and pleasant too. We gave her a 25% tip from the total amount before you comp'd portions of our meal. My review was about the food and quality (or lack thereof). There are just some things that you need to prepare better. You should take the salmon off your menu.
Lastly, I have been in retail management for over 30 years, and I have responded to many good and bad reviews. However, I have never lowered myself to the level that you have by posting such a hateful and damaging response. If one of my managers had responded as you did, I would have either suspended him, written him up, or even fired him. I am sure that the owners of the Brickyard would have had you respond with empathy rather than in an immature and defensive way.
Remember that everything that you do is a reflection of the...
Read moreTook a chance on this place, the menu looked promising. Hostess/bartender was very friendly, as was our waitor. Place was nice, cozy, etc. The main event, the food, wasn't great. I got a special, prosciutto stuffed chicken & basil with gravy, mashed potatoes, and a side salad. My wife got grilled salmon, mashed potatoes and veg. It took longer than expected since we were only one of 2 tables ordering food, but not long enough to be an issue. My first reaction was confusion, my side salad was served on the plate with the hot food. As a former sous chef, that felt wrong. We did have empty app plates at the table so I transfered the salad before more hot gravy got into it. Mashed was fine, clumpy, but I like it clumpy. The chicken was well cooked, juicy and tender, and the gravy was yummy. The raw basil made it weird, though, and the prosciutto didn't add to the experience. I think a basil pesto would have worked better, plain basil tasted raw and soapy. My wife hated her salmon. It was way overcooked and whatever glaze that was applied was like dried glue. She didn't care for the mashed potatoes, not her style I guess. She didn't comment on the veg. We love adventure dining and buying local, but this experience might be the last for us and Brickyard. They do have karaoke nights, so we migh be back to check that out. My tips for the kitchen: basil pesto over raw basil leaf in the stuffed chicken, and ditch the GRILLED salmon. Sprinkled with mediterranean spices, sauté it in a little oil, hit it with a white wine and finish in the oven, that's how I would serve it. Salmon shouldn't be cooked on a grill. And serve the side salad on a separate plate.
Side note, I keep reading the same thing about the salmon in other reviews so I know I'm not crazy. Also, the owner likes to get sassy and smack talk bad reviews. I'm excited to see what he will say! As a former General Manager for multiple restaurants, that's a big red flag for how professional the business is run as a whole.
If we do come back, we are gonna...
