Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Wood-Ridge

Me and my family of 4 were on line waiting to be served and when the server got to us he said "I have to close" Time was 8:40PM. I said it's not 9:00 yet and he responded "I don't get paid for working past 9:00pm" I said to him we will never come here again and also to the other 7 people behind us. I said I will speak to the owner about this and he just closed the window and left us there flabbergasted. To the owner: pay your workers for what they actually work. If your store closes at 9 pay your worker till 9:30 so he can properly tend to your customers. Every place that I know of stays open till the end. No warning was given and it was a total waste of our time....

We’ve been ordering from this store through DoorDash forever. It was great quality for so long, then the orders started becoming more & more inconsistent. Skimpy servings. Broken waffle bowls & the layered gelati & lemon ice coming with 75% ice. We added instructions a few weeks ago, “less ice more custard please”. Today as our order is being delivered, we get an email from DoorDash that the store charged an additional $1.92 for our “special” instruction. Because almost $9 for a cup of dessert isn’t enough.. I hope they enjoyed the extra money, because we’ll never order another thing from this...

The lady behind the counter was kind of condescending and annoying. I asked to try two flavors of ice and she said she would be “limiting me to one sample”. I’ve worked at Rita’s before and this wasn’t a rule when I worked, or whenever I’ve been to one. They also won’t take debit cards for under orders under 5 dollars, just so you know. The women taking my order was just really snide. The ice was fine, same as any other Rita’s but the cup wasn’t domed properly and was flat on top, which isn’t how Rita’s serves their ice.
