We were on the way home after a weekend in pdx, and found Tany’s Con Pan almost by accident. What a happy accident - I haven’t even finished all our goodies yet, and I can’t wait to go back!
Firstly, Tany’s is big and spacious and clean - it looks and feels new. We had looked at the online menu and knew they served breakfast sandwiches and burritos, which is what I’d usually get - but when I walked in, I was drawn directly to the bakery shelves filled with beautiful conchas, pastries, cookies and breads. My eyes got wide, and my breakfast decisions were suddenly very difficult - in the best way.
I grabbed a tray and a pair of tongs, as the sign directed, and picked out a few favorites, making a mental list of things to get next time. In addition to multiple flavors of conchas, I got a savory spinach pastry and one with bacon. In a stroke of genius, I asked for the pastries to go (I’ll enjoy those later), and ordered a croissant breakfast sandwich. The egg & cheese croissant is only $6 (with meat, $8), and has hash browns on the sandwich! The eggs were super light and fluffy and the croissant was huge and flaky - it filled nearly the whole to go container, and it wasn’t greasy at all. It was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture until I was halfway done.
After the staff (so kind and friendly!) took our order, I commenced my effort to not buy at least one of everything else in the store. Their bread rolls looked awesome, their refrigerated section includes mouthwatering slices of tres leches and red velvet cake (and gorgeous whole cakes for around $35) as well as rice pudding and flan, and they even have pre-wrapped mini conchas and cookies by the register. They also have sandwiches and tortas, quiche (with asada and chicken fajitas), and even a cooler with frozen treats (including SpongeBob popsicles, which will win over my picky daughter).
I walked out of Tany’s with an extra sparkle in my eye, and I hadn’t even had a sip (yet) of my coffee! There’s no better way to describe Tany’s than terrific, delicious, wonderful. Do yourself a favor and discover this local, family-owned gem. And remember - you can fit a lot in those...
Read moreWHOOP WHOOP! Tany’s bakery & Tany’s cafe has officially combined & built their new home front from scratch (literally!) Huge bakery with everything you can dream of! Lots of comfy seating to sit & relax. It’s not super loud in there either so great place to get some work done on your laptop while enjoying one of their speciality coffee drinks! So far I’ve been very happy with everything I’ve drank & ate from here, you can’t go wrong at Tany’s!
They opened recently so they’re still getting set up & adding more to the cafe. There are plenty of pastries decorated for children, like minions, Spider-Man, & sesame street! Some pastries are shaped into hearts or a smiley face. The entire cafe is very clean & spotless.
They operate similar to traditional Mexican bakeries. Once you enter, you grab a food tray & food tongs. From there, you use the tongs to select what pastries you’d like from the cases & put it on your food tray. Once you’ve grabbed all the pastries you want, you take your tray to the counter & they’ll box it or bag it up for you! At the counter is where you can order coffee or other drinks they offer.
*Note: CASH IS KING! Don’t let cash die! The service charges for card transactions are insane on small businesses. Please support small businesses by using CASH for your payment! Cash $1 will stay the same, $1 value. Card $1 will have to go through many systems, each charging the business a fee. That card $1 is no...
Read moreMy coworker showed me this place during lunch. One of the tvs were down so I’m not sure if they have “meals” but the cakes and everything else are displayed very nicely, everything is clean there aren’t any smudges on the cases. We grabbed a few small items and after eating back at the job site I told my coworker I had to go back and grab some more items after work for my wife and did just that. However I read some reviews before I did and was starting to question if I should… those 1 star reviews couldn’t be further from the truth. All the items I got were fresh, tasted fantastic, weren’t soggy, weren’t crumbly, packed with flavor, staff was very nice and I never had to wait for them unlike some of the reviews stating otherwise. After my experience here I don’t understand how people can make a bad review on this establishment.
Also I really like that one of the 1 star reviews. It’s comical, you literally posted pictures of the signs they have posted on the door about no dogs and no public restroom, or the right to refuse service. Do you not know those are literally posted at almost every business.( besides it’s a bakery where you need to grab your own food and put it on trays why in the world would you bring your...
