Stepping into this Indian restaurant is like embarking on a flavorful journey through the heart of India. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the warm aroma of authentic spices, a promise of the culinary adventure that awaits.
The menu showcases the soul of Indian cuisine with a diverse range of delicacies prepared using time-honored recipes. The pomfret fry, golden and perfectly crisp, is a standout—each bite rich with coastal flavors. The shrimp masala, simmered in a fragrant gravy, offers a perfect blend of spice and freshness, while the Saoji mutton, a fiery delicacy from Nagpur, brings a bold, robust punch that true spice lovers will appreciate.
For a lighter yet flavorful option, try their spicy misal, just like the ones from Mumbai—a fiery burst of flavors that pairs perfectly with the soft pav. The sabudana vada, crispy on the outside and soft within, is a must-try for breakfast or as a snack. And if you're a fan of seafood, don’t miss the fish curry, where delicate pieces of fish are cooked in a tangy, spicy gravy that will remind you of coastal home-cooked meals.
If you're in the mood for something different, the momos, steamed to perfection and served with a spicy dipping sauce, are a delightful surprise that adds a fusion twist to their menu. And, of course, no Indian feast is complete without their signature biryani, where every grain of rice is infused with the essence of authentic Indian spices.
It’s not just the food that makes this place exceptional—the cocktails elevate the experience to another level. Their old fashioned is a beautifully balanced classic, while the coconut cocktail is a tropical delight, offering a refreshing twist that pairs perfectly with the bold Indian flavors. Read moreI recently had the absolute pleasure of dining at Nagpur Saoji restaurant, and what an unforgettable experience it turned out to be. From the very first bite to the last sip, everything was beyond extraordinary.
I started with the Rava Fried Prawns, and I can confidently say they were nothing short of a masterpiece. Perfectly golden, crispy on the outside yet tender and juicy within, every bite felt like fireworks on the palate. I was honestly left wondering how something so simple could be elevated to such perfection.
Then came the star of the evening—the Saoji Chicken. Words truly fall short in describing it. Rich, fiery, and packed with flavor that spoke of tradition and culinary passion, it was easily one of the best chicken dishes I have ever tasted in my life. The complexity of spices, the depth of flavor, and the sheer intensity of the dish was enough to leave me in awe.
The service, too, deserves special mention. Joe, our server, was an absolute delight. His charm, attentiveness, and ability to make us feel like the most important guests in a bustling restaurant were commendable. He managed to strike the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth, and that made the evening even more memorable.
And then there was Ivan, the manager, who impressed us equally. Even though the restaurant was buzzing with guests and running at full capacity—a situation that could easily test anyone’s patience—he carried himself with such calmness, courtesy, and grace that it left a lasting impression. His presence set the tone for the entire dining experience.
In short, Nagpur Saoji is not just a restaurant—it is a temple of flavors, a haven of hospitality, and a place where memories are crafted. If there is one culinary journey you should not miss, it...
Read moreNagpuri Saoji: A Mixed Experience My recent visit to Nagpuri Saoji left me with mixed feelings. As someone who appreciates regional cuisine, I was excited to explore the flavors of Central India. However, reality fell short of our expectations.
Service and Ambiance: The service was good —although we were quoted 15-20 minutes every time we ordered something it was done faster. The owners themselves engaged with us, adding a personal touch. The interiors were appealing, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere.
Food Highlights: Solkadhi: A refreshing 5/5. Loved it! Vada Pav: A decent 4/5. Although red chutney was just there as a salt in a food.
Prawns: A 4/5.
Tandoori Pomfret: A juicy 5/5; the fish was delightful.
Chapati: this was the best chapati I ever ate outside of India.
Areas of Disappointment: Pricing: Nagpuri Saoji’s premium prices ($$$) didn’t align with the overall food quality. Menu Discrepancy: The menu prices differed from what we were charged. Portions and Rice: Portions were disappointingly small (almost kid-sized), and rice wasn’t included with the curry. Temperature: temperature of some of food items was nearly cold.
Patavde: Patavde were paneer size which does not give good taste as there are supposed to be thinner.
Reel vs. Real Life: Nagpuri Saoji seemed like a perfect example of the contrast between reel life (our expectations) and real life (the actual experience).
While I appreciate the effort to bring regional food to New Jersey, our overall impression was one of disappointment. New customers should temper their enthusiasm and manage their expectations based on honest...
