Shalimar King of Sweets & Restaurant has been a part of my family's life for over 16–17 years, and I can confidently say that they’ve never once disappointed us. It's incredibly rare to find a place that maintains such consistency in quality, taste, and customer service for nearly two decades, but Shalimar has done exactly that.
From the very beginning, Shalimar has always made us feel like family. Whether we’re dining in, ordering takeout, or picking up sweets for special occasions, their hospitality is always top-notch. The staff is warm, welcoming, and attentive, and they genuinely care about the customer experience. It’s the kind of service that brings comfort — the kind that makes you want to return again and again.
Now let’s talk about the food — truly the heart of this place. Shalimar offers a wide variety of dishes that cater to everyone — from vegetarians to meat lovers, and everything in between. You’ll find an impressive selection of flavorful, authentic Indian and Pakistani cuisine that’s always fresh, well-seasoned, and served with care.
My personal favorite is the lamb chops — hands down, some of the best I’ve had anywhere. They’re always perfectly grilled, juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. You can taste the freshness in every bite, and it’s clear they take great pride in how they prepare their meats. Another go-to dish of mine is their samosa chaat — it’s an explosion of texture and taste with just the right amount of spice and tanginess. Every bite is satisfying and comforting.
The rest of my family has their own favorites, and honestly, the list would be too long to write here (we’d be here all day!). From curries, biryanis, kababs, to their incredible selection of sweets, Shalimar never runs out of options to explore and fall in love with. Whether it’s gulab jamun, rasgulla, laddoo, barfi, or any of the other traditional delights, everything is fresh, rich, and made with authentic ingredients. You can really tell they don’t cut corners when it comes to quality.
Another huge plus — everything is Halal, which gives us peace of mind, especially when dining with our extended family and friends. It’s reassuring to know that we can enjoy all these delicious meals with confidence.
What makes Shalimar even more special is the fact that it has become more than just a restaurant for us — it’s a place tied to memories, celebrations, comfort food, and tradition. Birthdays, Eid dinners, casual family nights out — Shalimar has been a part of it all. And no matter how many new restaurants come and go in the area, we always come back to Shalimar, because nothing compares to the consistency, love, and authenticity they put into their food and service.
If you’re someone who appreciates genuine South Asian cuisine with exceptional customer service, a family-friendly atmosphere, a huge variety of choices, and that warm, nostalgic feeling of home — Shalimar King of Sweets & Restaurant is a must-visit. Whether you’re a first-timer or a long-time regular like me, you’re guaranteed to leave full, satisfied, and already planning your next visit.
Thank you to the amazing team at Shalimar for all these years of unforgettable food and memories. Here’s...
Read moreIf you are from India and Pakistan, and was exposed to below average, run of the mill cooking by your family members, who in turn did not learn from masters of their trade, but still were encouraged by you and others out of love and respect, even though they had no clue about ingredients or the blend or balance, then this is your place. Hilariously unprofessional, the man and the woman on the cash registers were squabbling and speaking ill of fellow workers, no clue about time and urgency, or customer service. I went for the first time after living here for more than 20 years and was not able to make up my mind if I should be upset or I should be amused with the experience I was having. Food looked uninviting to horrible, sweets looked like clones of what I call sweets. We ordered Beef Behari Kebab, it was great, very well done, Lamb chops, great , very well done, chicken seekh Kebab, not so great but better than many other places. Wanted lamb seekh Kebab but could not find in the not so clear Menu items shown above the counters. Felt disappointed when we finally discovered they do have. Naan was good. Cleanliness not so much. Parking is most inconvenient, almost got a ticket.
Ordered samosa, most horrible taste ever, skip it, ordered karahi goat, I do not know what the hell that was, service is so poor, it appears waiters work independent of the cashier or order taker, store manager had no control over them. Every thing seemed adhoc and felt they give a damn to people who come in to eat there. I got the vibe of not being welcome in the store.
But if you are a worst cook, and have fake sense about yourself as a gourmet food lover, with below average food nostalgia form India and Pakistan, this is your place, not for me. Save your health and buy ready to eat stuff from Costco or Indian stores, you are better off.
Second Visit.
NY eve. Ordered over the phone for take out, Bihari Kawab, Goad and Chicken Seekh Kawab. Lamb Chop. Tandoori Roti. I was surprised there were only few customers for take out. This is the best selection for me, tandoori roti was excellent as well as Bihari kawab. One has to recook( not reheat) chicken and goat seekh kawabs, otherwise they taste undercooked. Overall, satisfied with the quality, not every thing is at acceptable standards, but I recommend this combination. The quality was upheld as my last visit. Will continue...
Read moreI recently dined at Shalimar on a Saturday evening, and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. Upon arriving, I was excited to try their offerings. However, the service quickly soured my enthusiasm.
The waitress informed us that, due to the busy night, we should order our appetizers and main course together. We complied, ordering shammi kababs, chili chicken, and tawa fish for starters, along with goat karahi and butter and garlic naans for the main course. After about 20 minutes, to our surprise, all our dishes arrived at once. We were expecting to enjoy our appetizers first, as we had specifically requested. When we mentioned this to our waiter, he simply shrugged it off, explaining that everyone was receiving their food simultaneously due to the rush.
To add to our disappointment, the garlic naan was missing. We initially thought it would arrive shortly, but it never did. This was puzzling, as I've dined at many busy restaurants before, and I've never encountered a place that sends out the main course alongside the appetizers. By the time we started having our main course, everything was cold as ice, which further diminished our dining experience.
As if that wasn't enough, we also faced issues with our water. Despite three different waiters being told we needed a bottle, no one followed through. Frustrated, my mom took the initiative to speak with the manager about our situation. She was assured that someone would assist us, but once again, no one came to help. After waiting an additional 15 minutes, we finally received our water—far too late to salvage the evening.
Overall, my experience at Shalimar was disappointing. The lack of organization and attention to customer needs left a lasting negative impression. I hope they can improve their service, as the food has potential, but the experience was unfortunately overshadowed by poor management and...
