Poor service, good food. Wish I could give them more stars! I had really REALLY high hopes for this place. Read a few of the reviews, they said good salsa, good food, and a few mentioned poor service.
I didn't think too much of that to be honest and since it's somewhat closer to home than our regular "spot" I had high hopes that Los Cabos could be our new Mexican joint.
Sadly to say this is not the case, it wasn't all bad, but the experience was bad enough to keep me from returning.
THE GOOD: Food My food was great. I had the Pollo Asado y mas and I have zero complaints. The chicken was tender, the enchilada that accompanied it was great as well. Good portion of beans and rice, and the beans weren't soupy as some restaurants try to do to make it seem like you're getting more beans.
My wife had the chicken chimichanga and I believe that she enjoyed it as well.
Chips and Salsa were good as well.
Decor Decor was awesome, love the look and the overall atmosphere.
THE BAD: Service Service Service. Did I mention the service? Unfortunately horrible. We went in on a Sunday evening, it was NOT packed, I counted maybe 4 other tables filled while we were there. We stood at the front counter for a couple of minutes before even getting noticed, then we were seated. All was just about normal at this point, although it was odd that we'd waited to get seated when there was just about no one there. No worries there, chalk it up to timing.
Then we get seated, get the first batch of chips and salsa, chips were cold which was disappointing but I survived it. Then we waited, and waited, and waited, for OVER A HALF HOUR to get our order placed. I'm not even kidding. The waitress never even came by to ask if we wanted to order a drink or anything like that. Ridiculous. At one point we just got up and started walking around, I was literally LOOKING for some one to take my order. We also had our 1 year old with us so it was a good opportunity to let her walk around and check out the decor., which I'd mentioned before was very cool.
Once our waitress came back from wherever, she finally took our order, then we waited again. I don't think it took quite 20 minutes, but more like 13 or so and it felt like another 30. We got our food, and the drink that I'd ordered which was just about too late now anyways, and then dug in.
Like i mentioned, food was great even the baby loved the enchilada, zero complaints there.
When we finished, I had to, you guess it, track down my waitress to get the check so we could pay and leave.
Very disappointed in the service. Man I'm telling you, if they could nail down that part of it, this place could be awesome! So many people have complained about the service that you would think that they'd address it ASAP! If they did, I'd return in a heartbeat. I'd make it our "regular" and leave amazing reviews!
Just can't swing it right now, not until they fix that gaping hole in the biz.
Prices were about standard fair, the drink I had was good, fairly priced as well.
Get it together Los Cabos, you guys can be so much...
Read moreSome days two stars is not enough, but last visit was a two star day. We have been coming here for 7 years now, and the food is maddenly uneven. Of course I get the same thing most visits, so not a very fair critique. At times the chille rellenos are delicious, fresh chilles, bubbly white Mexican cheese, good batter. However twice in recent months, the chilles tasted as if were straight out of can, no color, dull, no texture. Not the same. Some pieces sprinkled on top for good measure. When I questioned the server about this, she said she had never heard of canned chilles. I googled it and showed her what I thought I was eating. When I asked to talk to the manager, she said he was too busy. It was 2:00 pm and we were the only customers there. The server had also forgotten to bring us tortilla chips and salsa until I reminded her as I was looking around for something else to eat, having donated my chille relleno to my husband who will happily eat almost anything I hand over. So, I was left with the tortilla chips, and figured better than nothing. Wrong! I couldn't expel that one bite of a very strong, oily fishy tasting tortilla chip out of my mouth fast enough. They do have a fair amount of fish items and my guess is their oil should have been replaced. That was a new first there. It was irritating to watch my husband chowing down on his meal, my meal and now these particular chips. Ugh. The tamale luckily was decent which isn't always the case. A month or so ago, mine tasted smoky as though either it or something cooked near it had burned. This place used to get an okay to good lunch crowd, and we were a little late the last two visits, but still there is an ominous lack of people there. When the fancy new menus with the even fancier prices arrived a while back, less people seemed to show up. The parking lot is often eerily empty. I lament it when a restaurant doesn't attempt to retain customers with a treat for a screw up or offer something taken off the bill for inedible food. If I weren't such a lousy cook, I'd just eat at...
Read more2 stars because food was good. Service, 1 star. The waitress is not attentive. Asked for straws for our table and after 4 times she finally brought us 2 straws for a table for 4. Few minutes later, my wife asked for 2 more straws. 🤦🏼. Now, when we received our bill we found that the prices they charged us were $4 more than the menu price for each item. My wife and I ordered food based on the menu price. When I brought it up to the waitress, she just said that’s the new prices. The new menus are ordered but not here yet. Well Mrs waitress, that is not the way you do business. You wait until you receive your new menus, then you update the price in the computer to reflect hour menu prices. I did not order the food off of your computer. I ordered off of your menus. She Didn’t want to do anything about it so I hope you enjoyed making the restaurant more money while taking money out of your tip. Will not be coming back to this restaurant. Woodburn is full of Mexican food restaurants. Rethink your business...
