We stopped in for dinner recently. It has been on my want to try list for a while. I finally convinced my other that we need to give it a try and she agreed. We were quickly sat at a table and our waitress was right behind her. We told her it was our first time and she was very patient and explained the menu as well as the specials. After reviewing the menu we settled on Shrimp and Brisket plate. She took a trip to the salad bar that she enjoyed along with the Ranch dressing. Shrimp special was very good along with a bake potato. The home made fries were very good along with the Brunswick stew. Stew was a little watery for me however it had a very good taste and unlike most BBQ places it was not a chunky style stew like some places are serving! Oh and BTW, the tea was sweet and refreshing, a great start to a good meal. The only thing that was marginal was the brisket. I received 5 or 6 good size slices, nice smoke ring, bark or crust was very apparent on each one. The seasoning was a combo of slight heat and salt, a good mix for brisket. Meat was dryer than I had hoped for. This was our first time so it may have just been our visit. It is obvious that they have great success with the brisket so I am going to chalk it up to just my visit. 2 BBQ sauces were available, regular, vinegar based, and a mustard base. I used all 3 while eating and I have to say the mustard base was my favorite. Bottom line is that we finally got to give it a try. Overall the food was very good. Staff was great 100% appreciative to all of them during our visit. Will we go back, absolutely! Will I try the brisket again, not right yet as I want to try more items however I would order...
Read moreWe decided to stop by here on the way to Warm Springs as I love BBQ and like to try new places. A good friend of mine told me not to go because the staff is not that friendly and the owners are very stubborn. A large group of us sat down at least 7 of us. We ordered drinks and the bartender (pudgy white female) had a very hard time remembering our simple drinks. That's ok I know it was a little over whelming with a group.
Me and my fiancé was going to share the stew dogs as we were not super hungry and the lady said its $8 extra to share a meal but it comes with extra sides. I thought to myself, well if were sharing we wouldn't want more food. So I said she is going to just take a bite of mine and she said NO ITS $8.00 if she touches your plate. I have never heard of this before so I said that's crazy.
The female then got upset and said "this is my parents restaurant and I take offence to that". At this time we just said we would like our tab's and leave. My fiancé is not a heavy drinker so her friend tried to help drink the overpriced margarita and the old lady said "you cannot share drinks".
The elderly lady took a long time to cash us as the original waitress walked off and she became very rude saying "yall better not leave until you pay".
This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. A hometown place like Woodbury should be a positive experience. Its unfortunate that what everyone said about this place was true.
My opinion, sell this place to someone who is humble and family oriented don't allow your pride to get in the way of good business. I do not project your business to last much longer with this kind...
Read moreMy family and I went to the Fruit stand today. I traveled 1.5 hours to get there. I usually go to Gay Georgia, but was told that Woodbury had peaches too, so it was the first time I went to this location. I spent $160 on peaches on 2 boxes. I usually flash freeze them, give some to my coworkers some to my mother in law. The gentleman who was helping us asked me twice if I wanted the soft ones at a discount to make jelly or preserves. I told him no, twice. He went to the back to box them up for me. We went straight home and started to cut and peel them only to find out they ARE ALL MUSH!!! Now, I should have checked them, but I expected if I told someone that I don't want soft peaches, that's what they'll do. Lesson learned. I know that they are not going to give me a refund and I don't want to have to drive all the way back, but I called the place to tell them how unhappy I was. They are a fruit stand. They are well aware of what is a good peach and what is mush. What did I get when I called and spoke to the manager, "there's always a risk when you buy produce, and I can't testify to what happened to the peaches in the 1.5 hour time frame that you bought them and drove back to your house." Really??? Terrible business practices and I'm sure they saw that I was buyin a lot and looking to offload some of their older peaches. I will never step foot in this place again. Don't...
