I've been here three or four times now. I usually go with my cousin. She lives in Woodland and raves about it.
Here's the thing, she took me because she wanted me to specifically try the Fries add Roasted Garlic add Blue Cheese Crumbles with truffle oil. Now those.. those actually get a 6☆. They really don't need the truffle oil. It's fried. But they don't skimp on the garlic or blue cheese. We order a small one and it's more than enough for both of us.
UNFORTUNATELY... I've tried 3 different burgers, I've had the teriyaki with pineapple twice, and all were a 3☆ or 3.5☆ at best. Dry, overcooked (burned twice), a very small portion of meat for the price, skimpy produce; wilted lettuce with brown edges, and a thin slice of a small tomato.
The third time, I went with a black male friend. They never brought our beverages at all. But they were on our bill. I actually had to argue about it with the manager or whoever he was when I asked for them to be removed. I told him to rewind his video or ask the bartender what was in the drink I ordered without looking up the recipe. (If he just made it, he wouldn't need to.) Our server had gone on break. They said some nonsense about the printer running out of paper and not getting the order at the bar. ... Then why question my asking for the drinks to be removed.. so that's why we never received them, but why would you put a customer in the position of having to defend themselves as if I'm a liar. Now they were wrong twice for the same thing and didn't apologize.
The first time I was there, the service was horrible. The service staff was at the bar with the bartender. They were all doing shots. Some were going out a back door and smoking Marijuana. It was heavily wafting into the restaurant. We were the only customers there. Thus, the servers didn't want to be working anymore for the day. They were definitely waiting for the 4 pm shift to come on. They had no desire to work, they were not concerned with the quality of service we received.
Anyway, generally, as a small business owner myself, I really really try to leave only positive reviews for other businesses. But after multiple bad experiences, enough is enough.
I went back because my cousin does not cook. Zero cooking. But I do. So, peeled garlic cloves and blue cheese can be bought at any grocery store and it's delicious on steamed asparagus, to cut the carbs and fat in French Fries. Or I make fries in my air fryer.
I'm done with the Burger Saloon. Make better burgers and treat...
Read moreHave you ever paid more for a lunch than you expected, then after eating thought that it was worth every last cent? Yup, that is the case with The Burger Saloon. Also, if you're one of those dudes who "Hoover's" down your food just because? Hate to say, I'm one of those. :P. Alright, I sunk my choppers into their saloon burger and my taste buds lit up and I switched out of Hoover mode to slow down so I can taste my food. The hamburger didn't taste like run-of-the-mill hamburger that's typically made from trimming scrap, and fatty trimmings. No, this beef tasted like STEAK! Woah nelly! It was very delish! Needless to say, I ate slowly today, just to enjoy the taste more.
The onion rings are ordered as a separate side dish, and it too was worth every cent I spent. Tastes like cooked onions and the breading was very crispy but did not mask the taste of the onions; the taste overall was mild, light and just generally tasty. Oh man, very pleasantly surprised by this place.
At lunch, there was a full house, and this place is big. There's a full bar, drink and food specials on bulletin boards. You can drink whatever it is you want, ehhhh, so long as it won't get you fired from work! Hah! This place gets the Fonzy two thumbs up! As Ah-nold the Terminator famously said,...
Read moreWhat does a $16.50 hamburger look like? I was curious, so I placed an order with Burger Saloon. Ordered the Bacon Bacon Burger. Possibly the best burger I've ever eaten! Had to be at least a half-pound of meat (before cooking), hand formed too! In addition, they let me order my patty medium rare. I substituted swiss cheese for cheddar, which cost $1.20 extra. 😒 I also requested sourdough bread instead of a brioche bun. Three slices of thick-cut bacon and pepperoncini rounded out this exceptional burger. This thing is BIG! I had to cut it in half to make it easier to eat. I'd say compared to other burgers I've had, this one could easily be worth paying $17 for. Considering the prices of everything else today, I felt I got my money's worth.
They included Bacon Aioli, which was a welcome change from the ordinary ketchup and mustard. A bacon-flavored condiment that's very creamy and thicker than mayo. A perfect addition to the burger! A slice of tomato, leaf of lettuce, and lots of dill pickle slices on the side rounded out my sandwich.
The Beer-Battered Onion Rings were crispy and delicious.
