Upon arriving it seemed like it would be a decent restaurant, we were seated in the backroom area right underneath a window which happens to be the kitchen on the other side. Me and my brother had walked in with our motorcycle gear so we are used to getting stares. After being seated we started realizing a younger staff member perhaps the owners son peeking through the window at us. At first we assumed he was looking because of the helmets etc. But after it continued approx. 1-3x per minute we started assuming maybe he was checking the room for empty tables to clear as we saw him doing that in the other room. But as it consistently persisted for over 20mins we also noticed he would walk to the rooms entrance stare at us for a second and quickly run away. We complained about him to the waitress and told her we felt uncomfortable with him constantly peeking at us while we ate. Not even 30secs after the waitress left the boy peeked through the kitchen window again and made sure that he stared at us in the eyes individually long enough for both me and my brother to make eye contact for 2-3 seconds each before he darted away again. At this point we were fed up and while waiting for the waitress to return he kept peeking multiple times around the corner as well as through the window. Once we went up to the front to pay there was multiple staff there almost as if waiting for us, perhaps just talking didn't seem too weird but thought I would add it in. They asked us how we liked our experience and we had told them food was ok but we kept getting stared at, while staff was trying to explain to us he was just checking for tables to clear he was staring at us from behind a corner near the kitchen. We pointed him out to the staff "Look he's staring at us right now" and as the rest of the staff looked he darted back behind the corner. Weird fever dream "Coraline" situation, for sure won't be...
Read moreThis place is FANTASTIC. The atmosphere is delightful. Cozy and perfect.
The food.. the menu is huge. So much to choose from. You could eat here for a month and still have a different thing to eat every day.
They have a wine list. Which is unique for a family restaurant. Granted I did not try it.
The portions for the food are wonderful. Too much to eat in one sitting. The deserts are delectable.
The one problem I do have is that the drinks are not free refills. You only get 2 free refills. Not many people need more than that. I get it. But there are those that drink more than others. I maybe have 2 Pepsi's at most while out. My husband however will have 4 Dr. Peppers. For some reason he drinks with his meals. He doesn't like water. And when his refills are gone he begins drinking my soda.
I think this needs to be re evaluated.
But otherwise this place is fantastic GO GO GO.

I love this place. They did a face lift. Not a large one. But it's nice. New light fixtures, some other things. I really like it.
They make you feel so comfortable when you go there. You get a 5% discount when you pay cash. I love it. I found the food I love. Their chocolate cake is delicious.

Read moreI used to love Stevens and dined there at least once per week. I ordered the broasted pork chops (menu listed breaded) with broasted potatoes tonight and it was a plain, unseasoned, dry meal. This was on the 14.99 menu. My pork chops arrived not breaded and very dry and so hard to cut. I mentioned to the server that they listed on the menu that the pork chops were breaded. My server said they were supposed to be breaded and she would talk to the cooks to find out what happened. That did not happen. I think the breading would have made the meat more moist. No applesauce was served, only sour cream which I do not eat. The broasted potatoes were also extremely dry. If you go, just do not order this particular meal. I could only eat one of the pork chops as it was very hard to cut. I spoke to the owner when I paid. He said he would speak to the cooks and that applesauce was supposed to be served. He said he would split the bill and only charge me $8.00. Well, goodwill for a frequent customer would have gone a long way and would have been easy. I should not have had to pay for that meal. Unfortunately Stevens is close and convenient. I have always liked my meals there and dined there often. However, there are many other great restaurants that I will take my business to in the future. Restaurants need to have something different and special for people to return....
