Happy China Restaurant — Restaurant in Woodstock

This restaurant used to be our favorite place to order Chinese food. Then it was sold by the very pleasant and gregarious couple that owned the restaurant. And it immediately spiraled downward.

Last night my wife tried to call 5 times to place a pick-up order and no one answered. Then on the sixth attempt, someone did finally pick up, but then immediately disconnected the line. I guess they don't want any business.

Every time we go to eat in the restaurant, the staff is incredibly dismissive, rude, and aloof. The food quality itself immediately deteriorated once new ownership took over. The ironic thing is the quality is now very poor, yet the prices have skyrocketed.

I understand the context of inflation, but the $11 menu item I previously ordered, now cost $18. In other words, the price point of the much poorer food quality has now risen roughly 35%.

Needless to say, my wife and I will not be spending our hard-earned money in the future on a restaurant with impertinent, unpleasant, and...

I have been here twice. The last time I ordered Carey out chicken low mein, I was just about finished eating and looked down and noticed something that was a darkish color in my noodles... I started to mix it up thinking it was a vegetable.... but after taking a closer look I realized that it was DEFINITELY NOT something that I should be eating. I took it out to inspect it and it looked like what I could only call a "grub".... it was some type of large insect or larvae of a leather jacket grub.... I wish I could post the pic here- you can see it on my yelp review. I was completely disgusted. This is not something that could just end up in food by accident from being in vegetables. I'm the type who understands that things happen when it comes to restaurant food... a fly can make it in your glass, a hair is possible since a Human IS cooking your food.... silverware can be dirty..... but...

Worst place ever! Not sure how anybody gave this place higher than a 1 *. As past yelp people have said they completely screwed up my dinner order. How do you forget an entire meal???? We called back and spoke to a rude gentleman. He tried to say we never made the order. Instead of listening to us he started shouting at me over the phone and ended up hanging up on me. I wish I would have read these accurate bad reviews first. The food we did get tasted like it was reheated from three days ago. The sweet n sour chicken had literally no veggies or pineapples. Totally disgusted!!! Really poor customer service here. I’m not sure who I spoke to on phone but they need to take a course on phone etiquette and listen to paying customers. I also heard from others about a terribly low health code score. Don’t waste your time or money at this horrible...
