I say this as someone who has been getting food here for the past two years or so, the service has gone very downhill! Half the time they don't get your order right, whether it's unspiced meats or no meat in your burrito (which I clearly asked for in my past order) and they'll even try to upcharge you for the type of bread you put on your burrito. I came in today with my order written in spanish because the guy over the phone seemed to not understand me over the phone previously when I gave out my order, I asked for half chorizo and half marinated pork in my eggs breakfast burrito.. I ate through almost all of it wondering when I'd bite through the chorizo and pork.... I didn't because they didn't even put it in my burrito, the guy at the front even assured me that everything was in my burrito right before I left. So I called and asked if I could speak with the manager and got hung up on... Then, I called back and after it rang 10 times he answered and I asked if I could speak to the manager and the guy said "she isn't in" and I asked when she would be in and he just hung up on me... Are you serious?! Is this how you all treat your customers? I shouldn't even have to pay nearly $20 for a burrito but when it's made well, it is worth it... But I'm not taking my chances any more and I probably won't be back. It's unfortunate because when the food is made well it is one of the best mexican spots in Woodstock, but I'm not sure I can spend my hard earned money here anymore..... They've also just messed up my order one too many times but I've tried not to care until now but this is getting ridiculous so I had no other choice but to make this...

TL;DR - Yes. This is where you're eating today.
If you're reading this, you might be like I was. Skeptic of the high rating. Trying to see the pictures. Curious about the unapologetic pink patina, and maybe even analytic of the reviewers' names for...ahem..."authenticity". I mean, I am led to believe Woodstock, VA is not especially recognized for its diversity or rich food culture.
But in a vast sea of meat hunk emporiums and potato stick shacks, Mary's Botanitas stands tall as Woodstock's culinary cathedral. Authentic food south of the post-colonial border with lovely service and quick turn around. Horchata with the perfect touch of cinnamon, Savory salsa that will dance on your tongue, and food perfectly seasoned with more than the pepper and salt you get at most of the local establishments. IYKYK.
I write this review stuffed to the brim with pupusas, tacos, burritos, gorditas (and more) split between us like a party. Generous portions at a deserving price. I hope this review gives this place the accoladesit deserves.
And we will be...
Read moreWe were traveling to Bryce Resort and had planned to stop at a cafe a friend had recommended, but the cafe evidently didn't open because of a winter storm forecast. Anyway, we found Mary's Botanitas and are so happy they were open, even with the winter storm!
The food was so good and they provide huge portions! The corn tortillas for my quesadillas were clearly "homemade" as they tasted so fresh! The pupusas for my daughter were massive and very tasty-- the pork one was espcially good because some of the pork oozed onto the griddle and becomes crispy and caramelized. And the cheese one it great if for no other reason that the cheese will streeeeeetch super far and that cheesey goodness is much appreciated on a cold, snowy day!
My son got pork rind tacos-- chicharrones?-- (again with frech corn tortillas) and my husband got chicken enchiladas with green sauce and it was all delicious!
Lots of delicious bottled drinks available too!
Extremely friendly service, too! I don't speak Spanish at all and I had no problem...
