They say that with a restaurant, the quality of the food is the most important thing. If that's true, then this place is a hit, because the food was delicious.
However, they definitely have some kinks to work out with the 'flow' of their restaurant. Standing in line, you're basically standing in the middle of the dining room next to everyone who is eating. After you place your order, there's nowhere for them to put your food down. We had ordered 4 entrees "for here" and they basically just handed us one item after another - no flat spot to put everything on a tray or anything. Kind of weird, especially with 2 young kids. We made it work, but definitely a clunky system.
The staffing also seemed like they might have been new, or understaffed, because we ordered some fried foods along with some foods from the burrito bar area. The burrito bar foods were quick, but the fried foods they basically had a hard time keeping track of what we ordered, and the cashier didn't have a great way of knowing that we were waiting on that food. Again, just kind of clunky.
Some kinks to work out with the 'flow', for sure.
But when we got our food, I gotta say it was great. The homemade chips were delicious. I got a rice bowl that was just superb, filling, tasted fresh and delicious. My wife got a burrito which she really enjoyed. My picky six-year-old got some chicken fingers and french fries that did the trick for him.
I think if I were going to go here again, I would try ordering 'to-go' ahead of time (way ahead of time) and then just get in, get it quickly, then get out and take the delicious food somewhere else to eat it. Definitely recommended for the food, but know that the atmosphere and flow needs a little work. A lot of potential...
Read moreWent here for the first time the other day and will definitely be back. We tried the wet burrito (one steak one Chipotle chicken) and they were delicious. Perfectly seasoned and everything tasted so fresh. Portions were very generous, we both ended up getting 3 meals worth from one burrito each. I liked it much better than Chipotle and usually they are my go to. Will definitely be back again. The only hiccup seemed to be the wait for for the pickup window. We ordered well in advance of leaving home and our order was ready on time but we ended up waiting in line for close to 15 minutes for someone who seemingly ordered when they got to the restaurant.. another customer in front of us had the same issue and had been waiting longer than us, went to go inside to pick up but sent back to her car. So that seems to need some work. I noticed they have a qr code on the building to scan and order there, so that may have...
Read moreThought I found a woo version of el jefe in Boston and though it’s very similar, I wish they had some chipotle Mayo and a spicy sauce that one could add to their meal! I took 3 people there on different occasion and 2/3 said their guac could be better so do with that as you will! I think maybe more salt could be better? Other than these two things and being surprised that a slice of tres leches is $6 .. pretty solid spot with all the options(fried plantains, etc) besides the sauces for me and my fellow sauce junkies / less cultured taste buds. Also wish their small container for queso (queso+chips) was a bit bigger. The small is too small and large seems too large too. Besides that, really nice employees and service and they have many food options even for the picky eaters that want...
