#34 on the Worcester Pizza Quest
Looking through my Worcester Pizza Quest list I came upon Lincoln House of Pizza. Dialed the number a man answered and was straight to the point what do you want "Ok" pause "be ready in 15 minutes" hang up. Time is money haha. I ordered a large cheese and half pepperoni pizza and large fries.
The shop is located on the Lincoln Street hence the name Lincoln house of pizza at the end of a multi shop building. There is street parking and at 7pm was easy to find, has big windows so you can see what is going on before walking it. Typical New England Pizza restaurant and was semi clean. The person at the counter seemed to be busy and hurriedly took my cash and gave me my pizza.
As I feared opening the box of pizza another Worcester Bready Greek style pizza. Had an adequate amount of cheese and had that bready pizza smell that most Greek style pizzas have with a dark hard crust. Eating the pizza was like eating the same pizza that seems to be presented on every street corner in Worcester. Normal semi sweet sauce, normal cheese levels, and normal bready crust. Lincoln House of Pizza presents a normal average pizza that is easily forgotten. If you live around the corner from the restaurant it would be a good quick fix for pizza, but you would not drive across town or tell your...
Read moreI most recently ate at Lincoln House of Pizza in the summer of 2010, so I do not remember how much I paid for the pie I bought, but it seemed an average price for a pizza. In any case, there is more to this story than my visit two years ago.
I used to eat here when I lived in Worcester in the 1960s. Lincoln's pizza was the only pizza to me back then, so my review has a lot to do with how much my recent experience matched my past experience, or at least my memory of it.
Although there have been three owners since the 1960s (all Greek-Americans?), the hamburger pizza (my favorite, so I had to have it again) was surprisingly similar in the 1970 versus 2010 match up. The ground meat topping tends to be crisper than most pizzarias make it, but that was what I remembered and wanted. The crust seemed puffier than I remembered, however.
The menu was more varied than it used to be: Grinders and perhaps even calzone might have been on the old menu, but they added wraps made with Syrian bread. Same toppings as on the grinders. They also added fish and chips as well as a seafood platter, but only on Fridays.
In 2010, service options included take out, eat in, and limited delivery between 5 and 10 PM. Hours were Saturday through Thursday 11 AM to 10 PM and Friday 11...
Read moreThis restaurant partners with Door Dash for the "virtual brand" The Grilled Cheese Spot. So basically the Grilled Cheese brand pays local restaurants to make their food, hence the same address as Garden Pizza.
DO NOT ORDER FROM THE GRILLED CHEESE SPOT (or anything from Garden Pizza) because it was absolutely trash and such a disappointment. Barely toasted the bread with half cooked fillings... The tomato soup was from a damn can. These sandwiches are $12 each for what?? A 10 year old could make better food than this smh. Avoid avoid avoid!!!! This restaurant should go out...
