D&E's Corned Beef — Restaurant in Worth Township

It was my first visit after seeing a “Reel” on FB today. My sister came with me after, I shared the review I saw on FB. Overall, we had a positive experience as it related to the pleasant atmosphere, professionalism of the staff, the positive hygiene practices of the employees wearing hair nets, and the cleanliness of the restaurant lobby, and the pre/work area.

The cashier (Kesean) according to my receipt gave me direct eye contact and attentiveness throughout my transaction which helped make me feel valued as a customer. Kesean also acknowledged a customer who was walking up to the register after me, as he was beginning to step away from the register to get me some water because I suddenly began to feel overheated, he let the customer know he would be right back.

The entire staff appeared to be a mixture of teenagers/young adults and all performed well as a team showing urgency without any loud ridiculous unnecessary chattering and none of them were on their cell phones!😀

The 1LB of meat placed on the sandwich is quite sufficient with the size of the bread selected.

My only constructive criticism is that in my history of consuming corned beef sandwiches now for over 5 decades thus far, I was surprised to have not received the traditional “sport peppers” which usually in my experience always accompany the sandwich for free. It wasn't until I got home to Chicago and settled down to eat my sandwich, is when I realized there were no “sport peppers.”😕

I completely understand the inflation rules of “Life,” however for $20 plus dollars a corned beef or pastrami sandwich, I presume that the cost in today's economy would ideally cost the restaurant perhaps 10 to 15 cents per sandwich to have a couple of peppers included with the sandwich for free. I was once in charge of a multiple-billion-dollar restaurant chain located all over the world for 25 years, and during that time (in the 80s & 90s), it only cost the restaurant 3 cents to place two free pickles on a sandwich.

One more note, if I were to patronize DA’s again, I would have my corned beef meat sliced lean because it was too much fat on the sandwich for my preference. When it comes to the other corned beef restaurant “players” like AP Deli or Manny’s, I don't have a concern about having an issue with an excess amount of fat on my sandwiches.

Finally, in summary despite my desire for sports peppers to be included as a free option with your sandwich, I definitely envision nothing but continued success for “ DA’s Corned Beef Stand.”

Well, I saw this place on the internet and decided to try it since it was kinda near me, I went for lunch with the hubby and ordered 2 half pound corned beef sandwiches. PRO: all sandwiches come with pickle and chips, (the pickle was very thin), CONS: they only had marble rye bread (which I don't like), the bread was thicker so that adds to the TOTAL SANDWICH WEIGHT (NOT THE MEAT WEIGHT), it was also kinda dry to my taste. The meat was shaved/crumbled and fatty! It was also served warm (which wasn't a big deal, I just didn't expect it), the menu offers leaner meat for a higher price charge, (why should I have to pay extra for lean meat on a sandwich?!) The quality of the ingredients were just ok nothing special. We also ordered fountain drinks which came in a small cup, for 2 half pound sandwiches and 2 small drinks my cost was $27 dollars and some change, THE employee was friendly and courteous, no complaints about the service, the tables were not wiped and had crumbs on them. I was recommended this place by a friend saying they are highly known for their corned beef. So me and my dad came in we order the corned beef sandwich meal. A half pounder and a full pounder sandwich meals coming to about 42$ and that is with a veteran discount for my dad. Now we decided to eat in and our order was made pretty quick. I'll say as I took my first bite it hit everything I wanted in a corned beef. It was tender, tangy, and that rye bread was perfect. My only gripe is that it felt me wanting more from the flavor but I blame this on more so due to hype from people telling me how good it is. But that said we will be back for sure for a second tasting and wanting to try out that pastrami.

NOTE: I am a bit confused by the pricing. You offer a 1lb corned beef sandwich that comes with a pickle and bag of chips for 19.99. But you offer to buy the meat by the pound but it cost 20.99. Now I know the difference is a dollar but I'm paying a extra dollar for less product is where...
