I used to frequent this place virtually every weekend between 2002-2010 and used to like their food and service. I can't remember the last time I was here and wanted to play it safe knowing that the food and service was good I decided to stop by. Nothing has literally changed in this place between 2010 and 2019. The decor, the chairs even some of the waitresses. Food was what I expected, I ordered the blueberry pancakes and they were less than mediocre, I also had a veggie egg white omelet, it was just ok. Then the bill came, I asked my waitress for substitutions (no tomatoes sub for asparagus) I was charged for it but the waitress never said there was an upcharge for it. As I look over the bill I am charged for all types of things like extra syrup and I had never been charged for things of that nature before. I get to the counter and the owner asks how was everything and I told him it was ok, I used a credit card and added the waitresses tip to my bill. I see him swipe my card several times to avail and I am puzzled because my card has an emv chip. He comes back and says my card isn't working and do I have another form of payment. Again I am puzzled because he never insert the emv chip and never tried the manual entry method and his machine is capable of both. I tell him that I've never had a problem with swiping or the chip so it must be his machine and he gets upset and says "no it's your card what do you think I control thee things?" Initially I thought to myself that he must be senile because legally any establishment that owns a credit card machine has to be emv compliant for customer safety, that was back in 2017 or 2018. The fact that he isn't using it tells me he could care less about his customers and their information. I used a different card nontheless because I didn't want to create a scene. I can tell you that 2002-2010 if you pulled into this place to dine or even pick up a take out order you would sometimes have to park across the street it was so packed. Now you can pull right in without a problem and get a table with no hassle. This morning, I visited this restaurant with my boyfriend. Entering the restaurant, the waitress was friendly and down to earth. She seated us, took our order and was very attentive. We finished our meal but i was still sipping coffee. The restaurant was becoming increasingly busier with people waiting at the door to be seated. Im assuming the man with a noticable accent was the owner/manager as he yelled at his staff to hurry up cleaning the tables. He YELLS at them, in front of customers, to "HURRY UP AND GET THE PLATES! I DONT WANT TO SEE PLATES" We noticed the waitresses rushing around, dropping things while one even telling us how he's "always like this." Either way, we placed our money at the end of the table and waited for the waitress. It was so uncomfortable. The manager (same guy yelling) walks over to us and tells us that other people are waiting to eat. We push our money towards him and inform him that we're just waiting for someone to grab our money. He then SLAMS HIS FIST on our table and says "I DONT WANT YOUR MONEY I WANT YOU TO GET OUT!!" I was beyond shocked! My boyfriend then gets up and argues to him that we're paying money to eat here and how dare he slams his hand on our table telling us to leave! He then threatened to call the police on us while calling my boyfriend a THUG! As we proceeded to leave, the waitresses apologized to us saying that this is his normal behavior. I've never felt so offended and embarrassed! We did absolutely nothing wrong and was very kind to everyone in there. Its not our fault the restaurant became busier. He had no respect for the customer. He just wanted to get our money and us the hell out so the next person can come, eat and get the hell out. I will never visit this restaurant again. Read moreThe owner is rude, brass and unwelcoming.. His words as I stood at the register to pay tab, when my tap did not work, "I don't have time for you, I have lots of people waiting...'. I am a little concerned because I have lived in this neighborhood for over 30 years and frequent this restaurant often with Mt entire family and friends. The reason I say all that is because when he made that statement no one was in the restaurant but a few, and no one was standing behind me waiting to pay. I gave him my only cash and felt bad for my server. You never know what people are going through sir, your restaurant was a gem, a place to come and enjoy a good meal and fellowship. Based on what I experienced recently, that's all gone. My prayers for the staff, because he also treats them like trash. OK so to e d this, I was so hurt and angry by his disposition I gave him my only cash and left abruptly! I sat in my car for a out 5 minutes praying and hunting for money , a tip for my server. She is so sweet, and attentive. She been there for years!! I found enough to adequately bless her, I calmed down and went back into restaurant asked for my server and gave her the tip. She tried to make me feel better about the incident. I thanked her and said he will hear from me later. I'm not sure what happened to the owner over the years, but the other comments I read tells me that somewhere in life something did...
