My husband and I and my friend and her husband went to this restaurant on 12/28/2022. I order the three tacos with a strawberry lemonade and my husband order a shrimps and steak fajita. My tacos was barely warm and had no seasoning. My husband food was hot but over seasoned. My strawberry lemonade was so sugary, I asked for a glass of water so I can mix it with. I almost made two glasses of lemonade out of it. That how sweet it was. At this point we got our food and my friend husband asked for some flour tortillas to go with his shrimp and steak fajita. Our waitress were getting ready to lie about bringing some out because she had already bought out some corn tortillas. She never asked what kind we wanted. Another waitress came out and apologized and mentioned that the flour tortillas will be coming out soon. It took about fifteen minutes to bring it out. When they did come out the other waitress bought it to our table. Our waitress kept disappearing for some reason. To put the topping on the cake, we got our check and it was an hand written receipt that said the total amount which was $108 for all of our food together. We asked the second waitress can we have two separate checks, she tell us they doesn't do that here. We go to the front counter and asked for a receipt with how much each meal cost. They print out a receipt that look like you came from a corner store. Still, no name of the dish with the price on the receipt. We had to make out what we ordered and paid separate. Management need to inform their customers that they do not split checks. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO THIS...

Disappointed to have to write this but after today we will likely not be eating at this restaurant again. We are semi-regulars here and have dealt with the hit or miss quality of their food for the last year and a half. Some days the food is so good and cooked perfectly. Others the meat is wildly oversalted or completely bland. The lack of consistency hasn't completely turned us off because I do believe that when they do a great job, this is the best Mexican food in the area.

However tonight my husband was served a tostada that had a surprise large piece of avocado. He is very allergic to avocados. He managed to see it before he ate it but it's now a waiting game to see if the bite he took from it before he noticed contained any smaller but equally destructive pieces.

We have asked several times on the phone when we place our orders if any of the food comes with avocado after the time when we ordered him flautas and it came topped with avocado despite that not being included on the menu description. We have been told dozens of times that the tostadas, taco dinners, and sopes do NOT come with avocado. So the one night we don't double-check, you decided to get sloppy in the kitchen and poison his food?

TL;DR This restaurant has the potential to be amazing but needs a consistent and competent kitchen staff who won't be careless with their ingredients like it...

While I generally like this place, our last carry out had missing items. We could not return to correct problem. When I called, they said just let them know on our next visit. We know that they won't remember. Just very disappointed. It really ruined what we had planned.

2/10/23 Update - I'm done. Waiting on hold 21 minutes just to place order. We'll find a place that values customers.

2/10/23 2nd. update - I called again and was immediately put on hold. Got in the car and went to Portillo's. 34 minutes later the owner finally answers while I was pulling in my drive with my dinner. When I told him I was on hold for over a half hour, he starts yelling at me that he was extremely busy and understaffed. I don't know what that has to do with keeping a customer on hold with no update. I have been supporting this place from day one when they opened. Last 2 orders were missing items with no promise to make good on it. Now this? I am now on a mission to let everyone know my experience here. I will let every new family know that this is NOT a good place to visit. Their food isn't that good to begin with, but I was all about supporting local. We need to weed out the bad places in EP and...

La Cocina Jalisciense is located in a small shopping center at a busy intersection, 95th and Kedzie, in Evergreen Park. I've driven by for years and decided to add it to this year's goal of sitting down in the establishment and checking out the menu. The menu has the typical affairs: tacos, taquitos, tortas, tostada, fajitas, quesadillas, etc. Both the hubby and I set our eyes on the steak taco dinner. I'm glad we made that choice, as I knew if they made a great steak taco, the rest of the food would be good too. I wasn't disappointed. The steak was perfectly seasoned as well as the rice and refried beans. I've visited some restaurants where the rice is mushy. No, at Jalisciense, the rice was perfectly fluffy and the refried beans had a nice flavor - good for dipping the chips. Speaking of chips, those were fried fresh with a nice tomatillo and spicy salsa. I'll definitely make a trip again to this restaurant and try out the rest of the menu.

Stopped in for lunch and tried the Birria Dinner. They have nice dining area, a little stuffy warm for my liking but still nice. The waitress was very helpful with recommendations when I was stuck between getting something I know is hard to mess up or something I haven’t had in a while. They serve chips and salsa while you wait as well. The Birria had good taste, the rice and beans could’ve used a little more love aka flavoring. The corn tortillas were also a little bland but the Birria saved the day. Overall a nice place if you’re from the area for a quick bite, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get here.

La Cocina Jalisciense is soooo amazing. I had to try the elote and as you can see couldn't stop at one bite. My tacos were fresh, the rice was well cooked, and the elote was perfect. The customer service was impeccable, even as I was undecided because I wanted everything. The cook time was appropriate as my meal was cooked to order. I will definitely add this as my go to for authentic Mexican food when I'm in Chicago. My meal took me back to memories of good food during my adventures in Mexico. I absolutely recommend you try it. Oh and they make homemade tamales!
