I'm a life long resident, of Chicago's Southwest side and 'burbs, and the first time I heard about PC was about a year ago. Now that I'm a short timer, due to move out of state after 60+ years, I'm going to places that I really wanted to try before I leave. I deeply regret not going to Porter Cullens earlier! This is a truly hidden GEM! The food is spectacular in taste and presentation. Portion sizes are perfect! The service is top notch, in fact beyond belief! Being involved with the fast food industry all of my working life, I've only seen service like this in top level white tablecloth establishments, yet these people are a true team! If one hostess see's your glass is empty, she will ask to fill it, regardless of who else is waiting on your table. The Bus boy is there to take away any soiled dish or glass, moments after you have finished with it. We enjoyed the Chicken Pot pie soup, Irish Egg rolls, Fish and Chips (I think the lightest, crispiest batter I've ever had on fish) and some Chicken wings with house made bourbon BBQ sauce and House made Buffalo sauce. The entire experience was outstanding and I can't wait to go back and try...
Read moreHave driven by this place more times than I can count! On this wet, dreary December day we found our way here for some lunch. First of all parking seems limited - we found a spot on a side street and walked a minute or two. We were greeted and we asked to sit it the bar. The place was beautifully decorated for the holidays, very classy. I always like to try a specialty cocktail - and decided on the bourbon with butterscotch liqueur, my husband had the bourbon ball (bourbon and amaretto). Drinks were served with a large ball of ice (perfect) and a good pour. The bartender & staff were busy but super friendly. When we were ready we ordered food - a corned beef sandwich and a caprese sandwich. Food was hot, fresh - and well presented. My husband said the corned beef was some of the best he’s had. My caprese sandwich was perfect- served on ciabatta bread that was nice and fresh. This sandwich has the option to add chicken but I would suggest you try it without! I substituted fries for the side salad - their fries are divine. Nice find! We will be...
Read morefirst time last time all the same time !! Myself and a 30-year friend went to celebrate her 70th birthday. I had never been before she had been there many years ago. Is we wanted to try something a little different and have both lived in the surrounding area for many years. .Looking at the reviews. I was looking forward to going. After arriving in this quaint little Irish pub sat down to order a cocktail and I thought I was downtown Chicago as each cocktail was $14 or more for the south side of Chicago? I thought this was a neighborhood pub .Then I noticed on the menu half the stuff that was on the website was not on the menu they placed on the table. We ordered the cheapest thing which was a half sandwich and soup of the day for $14. So the bill for the both of us was $70 for a cocktail, a cosmopolitan , another similar drink, each of us half soup and sandwich. Nothing special about either. Kind of disappointing. I won't...
