Cafe Amici — Restaurant in Wyckoff

I had the worst experience with Cafe Amici in Wyckoff. I called the restaurant and asked if they delivered, the woman answering the phone told me to go on Door Dash. I contacted Door Dash and ordered from the Cafe Amici menu that was listed. I ordered 3 dinner salads, all with chicken. All 3 orders came without chicken. When we called Cafe Amici to tell them, they told us to call Door Dash, as the order has nothing to do with them, as they don't use Door Dash. Makes no sense, as the Amici menu was on Door Dash (same menu as restaurant), the 3 salads were prepared and packaged by Amici, and then picked up from Amici's restaurant. How they could possibly state they do not have anything to do with Door Dash is not logical. When I asked to have the chicken for the salads redelivered, the woman stated she has nothing to do with the order and they are not responsible for it. She started screaming that it was not her problem, she's refused to refund my money, or send over the 3 chicken sides for the 3 salads. When I did not back down, she then woman screamed that she would drive over the chicken (we were 10 minutes from the cafe). After an hour, when it was clear it was not coming, I got back on the phone with the owner who was also extremely nasty, just kept repeating they have nothing to do with Door Dash and it was not his problem. He actually said he doesn't even get paid for the orders that he fulfills, all the money goes to the delivery service. I am not sure how he doesn't realize how ridiculous that sounds. If they had nothing to do with the delivery service, why did they prepare the food and have their menu listed on the site? I had told the owner all that all 3 of us were regular customers (I eat/order from there several times a month) which meant nothing to him as he continued to be extremely nasty, basically told me to get lost and then told me he was hanging up the phone. More than anything, my friends and I are stunned that a small local restaurant would speak to loyal customers in that manner. It's one thing if you have a teenager who is clueless being nasty, but the fact that the owner was as nasty, was shocking. It got to the point where I put my friend on the phone as maybe she could reason with him, but he just continued to talk over her and tell her it wasn't his problem. I guess "lead by example" is true in this case as his staff is trained to be interact with his loyal customers just like he does. This could have been so easily remedied, an apology, a refund, delivery of the missing ingredients, just treating your customers...

We made a reservation for a large party on a Saturday afternoon - Lynn was very nice and accommodating throughout the process of setting up but I just want to caution anyone also thinking of having a large party here- the service was quite dissapointing. The food took a while, there were several things wrong with the orders -missing chicken from salad, missing sauce from salad , burger much too rare when ordered medium well, we had to ask many times for a missing appetizer , wait staff were not regularly coming around asking how the meals were or if anyone needed anything else. Everything I needed I literally had to get up and ask a waiter for- more alcohol for the guests, more water, more ketchup, utensils, take coffee orders . I mean it got a bit ridiculous. I felt awkward saying anything when we were there but it was really not the experience I was hoping for- I felt embarrassed and irritated towards the end. So I don’t know if it was just today that they were ill prepared or if they are best at accommodating smaller tables and parties but I had hoped for a better experience after all the money I spent there. Since gratuity is automatically added to the bill I wound up paying an extra hundred dollars for service that was pretty bad. I’m not sure if I’ll return - maybe with less people but I think I’ll always be disappointed with how they didn’t live up to my (not very high) expectations...

I rarely write reviews but this place deserves the 5 stars and a shout out! I took my Mom here earlier today for a birthday lunch. It was perfect and I am so thankful!!!

From the moment we walked in everyone was kind. The hostess was patient and instead of rushing us to the first open table she instead allowed my Mom to pick a seat and waited until it opened up. She was happy to accommodate the table choice. THANK YOU.

Our waitress was attentive, also patient and the provided perfect balance of great service. My mom and I are a little particular and she totally accommodated our requests graciously.

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE: EVERYTHING CAME OUT OF THE KITCHEN LIKE WE ASKED!

BUT WAIT THERE IS EVEN MORE! THE FOOD IS BOMB!

We had the hummus app - so good! - and both had turkey burgers. DELICIOUS! They are served with sweet potato fries which were also amazing!

We ate and chatted and not once felt rushed or any type of way. She even brought us additional drinks at the perfect time.

It was just a super nice experience. Atmosphere is clean, warm and comfortable. Food is excellent! Service was fabulous.

Lately going out to eat is totally underwhelming. Food is over priced, service sucks and I'd rather just stay home than be disappointed. Amirite?!?
