This place has the BEST Chicken Curry of all the Indian restaurants I've been to. The owners, Tony and his family, are from northwest India, and that's where my mom and dad are from too. I LOVE the Chicken curry here. I can actually EASILY break the chicken pieces with a spoon to fit a piece of chicken covered in the curry into my naan scoop. Plus I get garlic naan and 2 pops from here too. Man it is so delicious!!! I like very much that his daughter would help waitress. Any family business anywhere where the kids work with the parents always warms my heart. I love seeing that.
Tony was a trailblazer. He opened the very first store in the GR area that sold groceries and supplies to make Indian food at home. That was in 1995 next to JT's pizza in Cascade. So my parents started going to his store in 1995 to get the needed things to make Indian food at home. Before Tony opened his store, my parents had to drive to a suburb of Detroit to get supplies (1988 to 1995) and before that my parents had to go all the way to Chicago (1980 to 1988). Before that my parents were in lovely England many years (in the 70s when it was safe and my parents loved it there) and there was no problem getting supplies there. Tony was a life-saver for my...
Read moreThis is a family owned and operated restaurant. They have an extensive menu to the point that we just didn't know what to order! Our waitress, the daughter, explained the options on the menu and discussed what we were looking for and made recommendations based on our preference. We ordered an appetizer, 4 dishes, and two types of naan. All of it was FANTASTIC. Items are made to order and available in mild, medium, hot, or extra hot. We ordered our dishes in medium and hot and they were deliciously flavorful, but not overwhelming. Mom was doing the cooking this night.
The other reviewers are accurate is saying that the outside isn't much to look at, but the pictures on their website definitely matched up with what I saw at the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and in good repair on our visit. We found the dining room to be a comfortable and welcoming spot. Service was impeccable. Prices were very reasonable. Overall, we were completely satisfied and I plan to go back. In fact, I'm feeling...
Read moreTheir Samosas are excellent. My wife and I have eaten here twice because the first time we were not impressed as we thought we would be, because we had a grilled like type of dish which reminded me of Fajitas. We know this is locally and family owned restaurant so we decided to give it another chance and we can't always make a decision based on one dish. Anyways, the second time we ordered a curry dish which had three large potatoes and about 6 pieces of chicken. The portion size, compared to another Indian restaurant we eat at was not equally the same. The tastefulness of the food was about an 8 out of 10 in my opinion. I personally may not return because the portion size was smaller than other places and the price of a dish was about 1-2 dollars more on average for other Indian places I eat at. I like the owner and his...
