We stopped by on a Sunday night (6/1) around 8 PM. There were only two other vehicles in the parking lot, which made us a bit hesitant. We waited a minute or so, and after seeing someone seated at the counter inside, we figured it was safe to go in.
When we entered, we saw three employees — one of whom was sitting at the counter chatting with another. A young kid told us it would be “a few minutes,” even though there were no other customers. Read moreI'm a OIF & OEF Army veteran who noticed that our sweet waitress was wearing a Gold Star pin. I mentioned it and immediately fell into regret. I told her "I didn't mean to upset you but I too am a veteran and understand what that means". She politely told me that I didn't upset her. Her son and I never met but we are similar in age and served during the same time. I'm sure we shared many similar experiences. To the Gold Star Mother and all those who risked and gave their lives for this country you have my highest respect! As promised, I paid tribute to your son. May he rest in peace. May his widow find comfort and may his kids find their full potential. God speed...
