I moved out here from California 2 years ago, and Laura's is the best Mexican food that I can find out here.
While it's no LA taqueria, the food quality, approximate authenticity, portion size, and smiling faces more than make up for the lack of precise authenticity. For most in the area, this is the most authentic experience that their palettes can handle, and I totally understand the business must cater to their clientele.
With that said, the burritos are huge, as are the dinner plates. My lady loves their queso, and our to-go orders are always ready in minutes.
I have not taken the opportunity to dine in since the epidemic, but they seem to have taken measures to protect themselves and prevent contamination within the kitchen, unfortunately they are limited in their mask enforcement ability just like all the other local businesses that do not receive support to do so from local authorities. So if you have mask beef, take it up with the sheriff's office, not the restaurant, as they are clearly doing everything they can.
Y'all are awesome, I just really wish you offered something like a $5 basics a la catre burrito option, as I am still missing my LA carnitas burrito with rice, beans, meat, salsa, and cheese. Also, if y'all keep some secret salsa in the back that has some actual heat,...
Read moreUPDATE TO ORIGINAL 5 STAR REVIEW . Went back to this restaurant hoping for a repeat 5 star performance. No! It was the most horrible Mexican food you can imagine. Real garbage.. I was so disappointed. Before I had only ordered the breakfast I described below,, but this time we ordered the tamales and the releno. I don't know what has changed, I heard they opened a new location. Maybe the good cooks are over there, but definitely I won't go back to this one! One notch above dog food on the tamales. And they looked old and just not good. The relenos were flat, thin and runny. Ticket was close to 40.00 with tip for 2 people. Waste of money. Just pitiful. What happened?...here's my original review of 5 stars: I stopped in here recently because I'd never tried it. OMG! I was impressed. I ordered the breakfast lovers on the menu and what I got was unbelievable. The plate was huge, more like a round platter as big as a large pizza and it was full of food. Good food!! 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 biscuits and gravy, big serving of hash browns. It was all cooked to perfection. Wonderful. I could not eat it all!! I took half of it home. UPDATE: went back with a friend a month later. STILL THE SAME. AWESOME PLACE!...
Read moreWhen we arrived our server was sitting outside smoking. We had to stand inside waiting for her to finish before anyone seated us. My friend is vegetarian so he ordered nachos but asked if he could just get them with no meat--just beans and cheese. She asked if he would still like the lettuce and tomorrow on top and he said yes. He ended up getting chips covered with greasy ground beef and cheese. No beans, no lettuce, no tomato. Like so opposite his order that it seemed intentional. I ended up eating them and they were soggy and not good. She reeked of cigarette smoke, was disheveled, and was unfriendly. I ordered the cheese enchilada dinner and was charged extra for "cheese sauce". What? Why? Eventually our server stopped coming to our table entirely. The cook (I believe) ended up coming to check on us and I will say he was extremely friendly. I hope he ended up getting the tip instead of her. I would not recommend this place and would literally drive to another town before eating...
