We decided to go to our local fav- The First Post but they had a 2 hr wait and we didn’t want to wait so we left. On the way out a very nice gentleman recommended Great American Saloon, he said that the owners were the same and the food was amazing and he was headed there too bc he didn’t want to be on the 2hr wait list at First Post. Both me and my husband were like well if the owners are the same the food will probably be the same too and decided to try this place!
I first off have to praise our hostess- Ariyanna! She was absolutely fantastic. Like true definition of a perfect host! She kept checking on us, super friendly, attentive to detail, made great recommendations! She was amazing.
As for food- spot on.
Dinner rolls amazing.
Reuben Roll- amazing, like if they made this into a sandwich I’d probably order one every week. Get this.
Cream of crab soup- I was initially hesitant but Ari was like there’s tons of crab in it and she was definitely not kidding. Chunks of crabs in the small cup of soup. It was so flavorful, definitely a winter fall soup. MUST try. Definitely getting this again next time.
American Burger- was very good! Get the saloon sauce on the side if you’re not a big sauce person, glad Ari recommended that bc the sauce was a bit overwhelming. It’s like a thousand island sauce. Other than that great classic burger.
Gnocchi Carbonara- I’m not a big gnocchi person but my husband loved it. I personally loved the chicken and shrimp. It was seasoned so perfectly. If you like gnocchi get it this!
Then we got a steak with a side of mashed potatoes and baked beans. Average steak.
If you are a fan of the First Post you’ll love this place. I think the menu here might have more things but some of the items are the same as the First Post. Definitely same quality of food and similar atmosphere.
Definitely recommend this place to others! I will definitely go back. And would like to thank the gentleman who told us about this hidden gem! And thank you Ari for being such a...
Read moreAte at Great American Saloon in Red Lion, PA for the first time on 2/20/23. Upon entering the restaurant, my wife and I were greeted by the friendly face who we later found out was the manger. We were immediately seated (about 5:15pm on a Monday evening). Our server greeted us soon after being seated was was very kind and patient once she learned that this was our first time at the restaurant. She immediately brought our some freshly baked rolls. The rolls were good even before I added the cinnamon butter. They were so good we asked for more.
My wife ordered the 12oz Ribeye that was cooked perfectly (medium well). For the two sides she had the loaded baked potato and vegetable of the day, which were mixed vegetables. I ordered the 12oz Ribeye, also cooked perfectly (medium) and the loaded baked potato and maple-apple brussels sprouts. All the food was good and seasoned well. I did have to add a little steak sauce to the steak but it just a personal preference for me. The steaks are not on the level of a high end steakhouse but I would prefer Great American Saloon over Outback, Texas Roadhouse, and Longhorn Steakhouse.
My wife and I also 2 orders of the Penne Rustica to take home with us. The pastas came with your choice of soup or salad. We both had salads that were fresh and the French/Catalina dressing was good. The Penna Rustica was also good and had a good amount of chicken and shrimp and the sauce was good. For dessert, my wife had the German Chocolate Cake and I had the chocolate cheesecake, both to go because we were full from the steak. The desserts were amazing...rumor has it the desserts are from a popular Baltimore bakery. Also, once the manager discovered this was our first time visiting she comped one of the desserts.
I will be visiting the Great American Saloon again. With this only being located less than an hour from my house in Maryland and the prices are reasonable, I will be visiting again soon to try...
Read moreHad my wedding in the ballroom area, booked a month or so before they remodeled it and I loved the look, come my wedding day all the animals are down but maybe 2 so much more plain all paintings gone except a few boring ones. Mind you when i booked it they didnt mention they were remodeling and when i found out they were which was about 2 weeks before my wedding they couldnt even tell me what the room would look like!! Couldn't play my music through their speaker because they didn't know how to work it, made a wedding playlist for nothing. They Couldn't even figure out how to play house music ( their own music) so we just had awkward silence and dishes clanging through dinner. Asked for manager to see if we could buy one of the animals they used to have hanging and no manager ever came out. Would usually look past this bad experience but I only have one wedding day!!!
Update: they have contacted me the day I posted this review and tried to make things better. I applaud the effort and upped my star rating. I understand people have off days and busy days and sometimes things just don't work. But grand saloon if your reading this and want to sell one of those animals I still really am curious on a price. We seriously wanted to have...
