This was our first and last visit to Ruby's. Driven by it for years figured we would try a new place.
We were greeted and seated very quickly and provided our drink relatively quickly.
The host/ server was really nice but stretched thin as she was covering the restaurant, the bar as well as acting bar tender.
The atmosphere is old, worn out, dark and dingy...there was even some left over pizza crust sitting on top of the headrest (should have known then and there.
The kitchen was open concept which normally gives you hope, but not this time.
The pizza section is closest to the seating area, past that you can somewhat see into the kitchen area where the two cooks were more interested in watching videos on their phone than focusing on customer service and quality.
Kim ordered steak tips medium rare, and sweat potato fries...
I ordered a fisherman's platter...
After 25 minutes, and being only 1 of the 6 parties in the place our server finally came back around and we noticed that she was grabbing the food from under the heat lamp that had been sitting there for at least 10 minutes (probably more)..
Medium rare tip were dry and very well done, covered with the aujus that we saw continually applied to the tips to stay warm...failed!
Sweet potato fries, cold and soggy...
$28 Fisherman's platter, cold, greasy, soggy, dark brown from the oil that should have been replaced months ago, the portions unreasonably small for 28 bucks...
The taste was aweful.... A few bites and we were done...
We tried to find the waitress to let her know we were leaving...
Found her in the bar making drinks and taking an order, I was patient for a bit but that didn't last long, I interrupted the gentlemen placing his order so I could explain we were leaving...
The gentlemen, clearly and rightfully so irritated with me, said thanks for interrupting while I'm placing my order, I said "you'll thank me later" as I walked out the door.
This wasn't a busy situation, this wasn't an understaffed situation this was the employees didn't care what the quality of the food nor the service was to the customers. There will be no second chance given and I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Worst restaurant experience I...
Read moreNine of us called in advance to make sure they could take us, to which they said they could. We were excited because we have eaten here a yesr ago and it was amazing, but this time we were all extremely dissapointed. We all arrived right off the bat the staff seemed annoyed with us for just being there. We asked in advance so i dont understand what their issue was. After seating us they took our drink orders which was fine, but took forever to take our food orders. The appetizers, (loaded nachos and one of the specials of the day, which was spinach artichoke crab dip). The nachos were okay at best. But the spinach artichoke crab dip arrived ice cold and it was canned crab meat. Just tasted like tuna fish. Was absoluletly vile. They only served it with 5 very small pieces of bread even though there was 9 of us, which were again very cold. Then not evem more than two minutes after serving appetizers, they brought out our food. One of us ordered mild pasta from hell and the waiter asked twice if it was supposed to be mild while it was cooking, before serving her a very obviously not mild pasta dish. (A couple of us tried it to be sure, and it was not mild). Because her pasta was so spicey, she asked for a refill of water to which the waiter seemed VERY annoyed. We had to ask 4 times for a glass of water!!! It took almost more than 15 minutes for one of them to finally get her it. I ordered a basil tomato pizza with a white sauce which looked good at first sight, but was dissapointed to find it very under cooked. I ate some of it anyways because I was starving, but am now sitting on the toilet with a stomach ache writing this as we speak! The staff was very unnattentive, uninterested and flat out rude. One of them I even saw rolling their eyes at our table as we walked past! They also were picking up our table with a complete attitude, and no we werent savages we gathered our plates together and didnt have trash or food all over the place. We are very kind, patient, well mannered and well behaved people. All of this was avoidable and completely unnecessary. Good luck to anyone who eats here. Terrible experience. I'd give zero...
Read moreWe have been a diners of Ruby's for years. I finally had the opportunity to enjoy a meal with relatives and friends for lunch as Covid is finally giving a hiatus. A break from Take out Orders.
We found that Ruby's dining in offers the same generous portions in with family in mind, perfect for young children who love a generous plate of French fries.
Our group was fortunate enough to be offered to try some specialty/newer items being tested for their menu. A Calamari appetizer with Sweet Chili dipping sauce or Marinara or better still both with banana peppers on the side. They were fresh light and delicious.
A hidden gem was their fresh Cod fish crispy fried in the style of English Fish and Chips, generous portion with a choice of Malt, Tartar Sauce, tomato catsup for their always yummy French fries.
Our server (Nicole) bowled us over with a upcoming desert menu. We were invited to do some taste testing, it was was nothing short of amazing... She hinted that some options may be gluten free among the deserts. I cannot wait!
As they work towards bringing an amazing deserts which may include: Maine Blueberry Pie a la mode, (with ice cream), Chocolate Mousse Pie with whipped cream, Lemon-Cella Cake with a creme icing, and Real New York Cheese Cake with graham cracker crust and strawberries. Not to mention a Brownie Sunday for two served hot front the kitchen with vanilla ice cream melting with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and chocolate bits. No more diets!
The men in the group are fans of Ruby's sports bar with its rustic feel and ample big screens to watch the game of the moment. A great assortment of beers and mixed drinks for the heavy handed. Not to mention Great Pizza!
I look forward to...
