My wife and I visited Mandez Seafood in Youngsville yesterday afternoon for dinner and had a great experience! The restaurant is nicely decorated with an open, airy feel that made for a relaxing atmosphere.
Our server was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and even though it was a Saturday afternoon, it wasn’t too busy and we were seated and served quickly.
I started with an Adult Cherry Cola—very refreshing and tasty! We shared the Brussels sprout appetizer, which had great flavor but was a little dry. We mentioned that to our server and suggested it might pair well with some pepper jelly. She promptly brought us two cups, and it made all the difference—absolutely delicious! My wife loved them so much she barely touched her entrée.
I ordered the seafood nachos after seeing several rave reviews, and they did not disappoint. They were packed with flavor and had a nice kick of spice—definitely a dish I’d recommend if you like a little heat.
Also worth mentioning: the restrooms were very clean and well-kept, which we always appreciate.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Mandez’s and will...
Read moreWe were told there was a wait when we indeed offered to pull up our own chairs we were sat. Our waiter was great besides having to go up to the front counter and grab our own utensil after another waiter, flagged down, ran to the back. Appetizer of onion strings were enjoyed. We had a children’s nugget & (2) children’s burger baskets. They enjoyed them. My stepdad had the redfish and enjoyed it. As for me and my mom with the fried fish platter/the seafood combo (fish & shrimp) we did NOT like the fish and did not eat it. I was honest with our waiter and it didn’t seem like it was a huge problem. There was no offer to take it off (even though we weren’t needing that or expecting it) though we clearly hadn’t touched it. For $130 to be wasted is a bit much. I think it’s a lot more about the sincerity that left a sour taste in my mouth. A first...
Read moreI will start with the bad first: the atmosphere. The atmosphere in here kinda sucks. It lacks personality, it’s very loud and echoey, and not cozy or comfy really at all. On a nice day, outside would be the way to go. Now, the food however, was exceptional. I got the redfish chauvin, with sides of Asian Brussels and sweet potato fries. The redfish was perfect and the Brussels sprouts were the best I’ve ever had. I would go back just to get the sprouts. My boyfriend got the seared tuna along with fried green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. The tuna was cooked well and seasoned well. The green beans were very good, but the best part is that jalapeño ranch. The mashed potatoes were okay, nothing special really. The redfish and the Brussels were the stars of this meal. I’m excited to try more items, I just wish the restaurant itself was more...
