Are you looking for the soul of America? I am just asking because I feel I found it. When you first walk in, you are greeted by multiple servers all with smiles that reach their eyes. Water arrived at my table before I had had a chance to sit down. The menu quickly followed. I was not give a chance to peruse for too long before the server came by and commented on this being my first time to the restaurant. It only sounded like a question due to intonation, for it was obvious she already knew the answer. She proceeded to let me know what the best things in the menu were, what was not available, all with the grace of a southern belle. When confronted between the choice of corned beef or sausage, her soft โbless your heartโ style comment let me know there was only one choice. Two gentlemen seated right after me were greeted as only long time regulars are. It was at that moment I realized I was the only person that was not a regular, and the restaurant was pretty full due to the lunch rush.
You go to a restaurant for the food, and I will say that it was excellent. Exactly what you would expect from an all American dinner. One that has not been sullied by conglomerate corporate takeovers. The prices reflect the state of the economy. You get what you pay for though. I donโt think I have felt this level of satisfaction from a restaurant experience in a long while.
Give them your patronage. This truly is a staple...
ย ย ย Read moreMy boyfriend and I called to order delivery around 7:30 am on a Saturday. We were told the driver does not get there until 8 after we gave the order. About 8:30 rolls around and we called to ask where our food was since we were told it would be here around 8:15. We only live 2 minutes away from the restaurant and didn't know why it was taking so long. When we called, the lady was very rude and said they were waiting on the driver but our food was made. We asked how long it had been sitting out to ensure it would not be cold. She said it was made a few minutes ago and that we should get it shortly. Finally at 8:45 we got our food. We tipped the driver almost 40% since the driver we had seen before and liked. She PROMISED our food was not cold. We opened our food to find uncooked cheese, soggy toast, cold pancakes, and no ranch that we had asked for. Everything was cold and gross, we just threw it out. Needless to say, the food was terrible and we were told our food would not be cold. We should have canceled our order and gone to mcdonalds again, no matter how nasty those breakfast sandwiches are, it would have tasted better than the cold, uncooked food we had received. My boyfriend and I used to eat there often, but we will never order or...
ย ย ย Read moreDont eat here unless you can get full off of the service. The service was excellent but the food was disgusting and poorly made. I've had better Ruebens from a gas station or convenience store. I asked for dressing on the side and got none, the bread was soggy due to the saurkraut and the corned beef was definitely over cooked. The chicken jumbo is from a can. I paid 21.00 for a $11.00 Reuben and $4.00 for a tasteless soup with tax, credit car fee and tip. Aint NO WAY this meal was worth they much!! You do better going to a REAL Coney Island, I see why this place doesn't do good business and is closed most days. Not to mention it smells like sewage in the restaurant. I usually dont do food reviews but the food was disrespectful and ill never got back. The staff was absolutely friendly and...
