I want to share my recent experience at The Taj Restaurant, where I consistently enjoy their delicious fish pakora and butter naan, usually ordering them every weekend.
On my latest visit, I ordered fish pakora, butter naan, and chicken seekh kabob for takeout. I was given a 25-minute timeframe for pick-up, but upon arriving 30 minutes later, I found the restaurant bustling with weekend activity. After a 20-minute wait, my food was finally ready, but I discovered that instead of seekh kabob, I received tikka kabob. The staff promptly apologized and began preparing the correct dish.
Given that my total wait time exceeded an hour, I was impressed by how the reception staff member—who I believe was of Mexican descent, just to recognize her in case the restaurant reads this review—handled the situation. She was incredibly gracious, apologizing for the delay and letting me know that I would not be charged for my meal. Despite my insistence on paying, she firmly refused, demonstrating her commitment to outstanding customer service.
While delays and order mix-ups can happen in the restaurant industry, the way a situation is managed can truly make a difference. This staff member exemplified professionalism and customer-centric service, ensuring that my trust in the restaurant remained intact and turning a potentially frustrating experience into a positive one.
I highly recommend The Taj Restaurant for their delicious food and exceptional service. They truly know how to prioritize...
Read moreNot the place to go if you want to eat or drink anything. First off, when we asked the hostess if she could turn the TV to a basketball game, she lamely motioned to the remote on the bar as if to say, "go ahead, knock yourselves out." When I explained that we didn't know how to operate their TV/cable system she responded by saying, "Neither do I." Unable to figure out the TV we gave up and took our seats at a booth in the dining room. Before placing our order we asked the waiter to clear the table of the used napkins, straw wrappers and used glasses, and to wipe off the table as well. This was never done. It took about 40 minutes for our order to reach the table, and even then things did not improve. My food arrived first, but without plates, or silverware. It was another 15 minutes before the second dish arrived, at which point I got up and got a second spoon and plate myself so we could begin eating properly. After a finishing my beer and the water on the table without even as much as the suggestion of a refill of either from the staff, I once again took matters into my own hands. When I poured my own beer from the tap behind the bar, our waiter appeared indifferent to the self-serve model, and no one raised any objections. Lastly, the food was rather bland and unremarkable. I haven't eaten a ton of Indian cuisine in my life but I expected better in a town with such a large Punjabi population. Definitely would not go...
Read moreWORST experience EVER. I placed an order through DoorDash. Was called from a number that said it was from Alabama so I ignored it, thinking it was spam. Then received a message from that same number saying they were out of samosas, want to substitute something? I said no, refund me the difference. Call back from same number saying can’t be refunded, have to substitute. So I order chole. Instead of being charged $5.99, I’m charged $27.99!!! Called to complain. No, I need to cancel order & start again. DoorDash says “too late to cancel”. So I call back. The girl @ the restaurant states she’s so sorry, will place cash in an envelope w/ my refund & it will come w/ the food & call & let her know if I don’t get it. Of course, no cash in an envelope! So I call. Get a “hello? hello?” & then hung up. Called back; same girl I had spoken with earlier answers & said “yes, manager says can’t get refund from restaurant, DoorDash has to give refund” HOW IS IT DOORDASH’s FAULT THAT THE TAJ WAS OUT OF SAMOSAS & I WAS OVERCHARGED FOR A SUBSTITUTE???? Lesson learned- I will NEVER order from this...
