After trying to eat at another establishment that was too long of a wait, we tried Casa de Lupe after many years. We got a rated right away which was great. I was a bit shell shocked with their prices as they were a bit high. We got our chips and salsa and wow. The salsa looked homemade but was beyond dull in color and had a funky taste to it. Not good at all. We asked if they had something else and the waitress said they had a spicier version...great! Only not great because it was almost identical only now I could tell what it was about the salsa....they not only used celery in it but they went heavy with it. This is also when we noticed the chips were just slightly stale...but we were starving so extra salt helped! I ordered their super burrito with chili verde. It was huge and actually really good. I had their red sauce on top for some reason and they, like some newer places, are trying to make their own and leave big chunks of onion and bell peppers in it...bell peppers in red chili sauce? NO! It was ok but some bites weren't great. But again. The burrito was yummy. My daughter got the shrimp cocktail. It was odd from the start and she tried several bites to see if it was a good or a bad odd....the old rubbery shrimp was the nail in the coffin. When she came back from the restroom we had them exchange the shrimp cocktail to a cheese quesadilla that was very thick with cheese. We wish we just went to a fast food...
Read moreWent here with husband and son. Husband ordered a couple cocktails, and we each got dinner and sodas. Our bill came out to about $75 (I checked our bank statement), fair enough. He's a generous tipper and he tipped the waiter (or manager?) $10. Total spent, about $85 , seemed a tad steep because the food was awful. I mean taco bell would have been better. Watery salsa, iceberg lettuce, flavorless food, soggy vegetables, fatty mystery meat. We never send anything back, we just take it as a loss. I asked for some tortillas for us to take home as that was the only item that we enjoyed, he said no problem. I get home and open our doggy bag to find 2 pitiful tortillas, yes 2 tortillas!! For a family of 3. I couldn't help but laugh! I would give a better review if EVERYTHING improved. I know it's challenging to run a business but you could at least treat your customers with some dignity. I don't like to give bad reviews, if things improved I would give a better review. I don't think we will be going...
Read moreWorst mexican food ever. Initially the salsa was gross. We ordered the $10 vegetarian burrito which was a tortilla with a can of Veg-all in it complete with carrots, potatos, peas, Lima and green beans and "boiled pinto beans" which was all unflavored. No cheese, sour cream, black beans, lettuce, rice etc that you would normally find in a vegetarian burrito. The $10 vegetable tamale was 95% masa and 5% cauliflower, broccoli and lima beans. When I complained the manager told me Mexicans are carnivores and dont make vegetarian food, that the tamales are "outsourced" because they dont make tamales but said he would not charge us for our 80% uneaten food then without telling us charged us $5 for the rice and beans that we also didnt eat because the beans had a purple tint also probably from a can like everything served at this establishment. When I said im not paying $10 for the 1/4 cup of rice we ate he told us to "kick rocks" and he's only gotten one complaint about they're burritos in the...
