Ono Hawaiian BBQ — Restaurant in Yucaipa

After trying Ono Hawaiian BBQ for the first time last year, it was simply delicious! Unfortunately, my second visit on 6/27/24 was a rude and unpleasant experience with lack of courtesy customer service. The first issue was my fountain drink was forgotten, I understand mistakes happen. The lady in the drive through speaker could not hear me after 3 attempts asking for my drink, which may resulted in receiving the wrong order when I returned home with my second issue that resulted in me writing this poor review.

When I got home I had learned I had been given the wrong order and the food was old on top of that. After learning about my wrong order it was almost 8pm when I contacted Ono Hawaiian on Yucaipa Blvd., and spoken to supervisor named Karla which I don't believe was her correct name, since she asked me repeatedly why I needed her name. I explained my situation, asked if I could receive a store credit on my next visit since I had just spent $16 for a mini order I received with the wrong order of food and had to go back for my drink I didn't receive in the first place. I further explained that I lived on the other side of Yucaipa, and that I was tired from being at work all day, it was already past 8pm, and I would not be eating dinner since the wrong order of food was old and cold.

I was told by the supervisor Karla I would need to return the cold food and would be charged for an additional 50 cent for the charbroiled chicken! I inquired as to why I would need to drive across town after 8pm to return old food if it was not my fault in the first place. Karla the supervisor proceeded to call me a liar and said I didn't order charbroiled chicken and that she heard me on the second headset she was wearing and then contradicted herself and said the mini charbroiled chicken didn't come in a mini size! I proceeded to ask her since you're calling me a liar, if the charbroiled chicken was not made in the mini sized combo why didn't you say anything on the speaker? Karla the supervisor didn't say anything because she didn't hear my order!

At this point I asked for another supervisor's name to assist me at another time, since I was done with poor customer service and rude behavior. Karla then stated she was the only manager at the store that worked all day and the evenings seven days a week. (Sigh).

This matter was not about getting a free meal. I had already paid $16 for the meal I thought I ordered. It's the acknowledgement of a wrong order with cold food, making the situation correct, and rude customer service. Will I still purchase Ono Hawaiian BBQ? Absolutely, but not from this location.

It's very unfortunate that some employees that earn a salary feel it's an inconvenience to provide quality customer service, handle and make right human mistakes.

Horrible service!!! Go elsewhere, these people are RUDE!! SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE!! Went through drive thru and they desperately need to train their employees. From the person who took my order, to the cashier they were rude and unapologetic. Could you believe they ran out of teriyaki sauce because they make their own sauce, what a lie!! After that exchange there was no way I could take the order because honestly I was afraid they would spit in my food. I know it's a new restaurant but they need to train their employees better. Nice staff and clean location. The food is made when you order so it's been good. I would suggest that you get a plate to order "no rice double Mac" if you're a fan of their Mac. Of course, you could try the opposite if you prefer the rice. Overall they have tasty food. The only downfall, if I had to name one is, that they don't have Sriracha.
