If you are looking for an awesome restaurant with a great drink selection then Prison Hill Brewery should be only be considered in a desperate situation. The wait for the hostess who seemed upset that patrons would dare to eat at this establishment was maybe the first warning sign of this experience. He didn’t seem in any urgency to get people seated and the inverted smile was just the finishing touch for the seating.
We get seated and chose our meal and appetizer quickly but didn’t get a drink menu which you would think would be a critical piece of information for customers to order drinks at said brewery. The service was a mess with several servers coming to take our drink and food order.
Ordered the pretzel appetizer which was OK at best but the mustard dipping sauce would be better served in the trash where it belongs.
The Meat Plate was chosen with the brisket, Sausage, and Tri-tip with a side of potato salad and French fries. We received the plate but didn’t not receive any silverware which presented a unique chance to enjoy the meal. The Fries were by far the best thing on the plate which was the only positive aspect of the plate. The potato salad was dry and lacked any seasoning, the sausage was ok but nothing special as well as the brisket. The plate came with with a sweet baby rays sauce, the trash mustard, and some lack luster jarred green salsa.
If you want food of this quality with cheaper prices and better service then an Applebee’s would be an...
Read moreI can't speak to the food (though it looked good). I can, however, speak to the beer and the service. Both were great. I was in Yuma for a few days on business and managed to catch Prison Hill open late(r) on a Saturday night. Weeknights in the summer, they may close earlier than you expect since, a) it's Yuma, and b) it's surface-of-the-sun hot outside no matter the time. People know better than to venture outdoors between April and November. So, the beers... I had 5 of them (tasters, not full pints, cuz I'm not 22 any more). The Es Bueno ESB was my favorite. Imagine a Fullers ESB and you're getting the idea. Finishes crisp, carbonation is not too much, and the color is just right. The nose is OK, which is why I don't say it's better than Fullers. 2nd favorite was Leap Frog, a hazy IPA. It was weird in that the first sip was sweet and overly tropical. After about 3 minutes, the sweetness went away, the tropicality toned down A LOT, and it became a very, very good Hazy. The Eclipse SMaSH was also good. In all honesty, none of the 5 disappointed in any way. Service was awesome as well. Keanu (he kinda looks like a pirate, honestly) was great. Funny, fast, and was able to walk me through some of the basics on the beers. To sum up, if I ever find myself in Yuma again, I'm deffinitely coming back to Prison Hill, and I'm also going to start rethinking my life choices because nobody should ever have to go to this God-forsaken hellscape. Yuma: 0 stars. Prison Hill...
Read moreI really wanted to give this place a higher rating but it was a little disappointing. We're not from around here so chances of the us eating here again is probably slim to none. It has a cute little backstory and the atmosphere is very cool. We just wanted to sit down and have some good food and for the most part, we did. Ricardo the hostess, who seated us, has an amazing smile and is extremely friendly. I wish I could say the same for the waitress, She was a Hispanic lady, she wore a lot of makeup and a tank top, she was young with dark hair, but that was not the problem, I just wanted everyone else to know who she is and what to expect if they get her. She rushed us through ordering and kept cutting us off and hardly checked on us. I believe that she made my margarita which was nothing but flavored water. I even mentioned that to her when she came back to see if I wanted a second one, but she's pretty much shrugged off that I disliked it. However, my food was really good, my husband said he's was OK, he said his didn't seem fresh. Plus anyone who knows drinks, knows an old fashioned, my husband's drink, is supposed to be served with one large square cube of ice, NOT crushed ice. An older gentleman with a white beard seemed pretty friendly, he thanked us for coming, he was running food, etc. If service is not a priority then I suppose give it a try. We are great tippers, if you give good service. So we didn't...
