Was not impressed with the food, I would expect more from a place that has been serving Mexican food close to the border for over 40 years. The place looks run down and layers of paint mask the many blemishes and mold this place is hiding. One would think after so many years in business some remodeling would of taken place. The food was bland, I ordered the $17 enchilada plate for my two small kids and got the chile colorado burrito. I expected the enchilada plate to look better and taste amazing since the family recipes are what kept this place in business. The enchiladas looked like they were tossed out of a can so did the rice and beans, dry rice looked like it was from a day before. Seriously I was disappointed with my burrito also, I might as well gone to any local grocery store and should of bought it there since it's what it tastes like but with a higher price on it. After the two dishes and three drinks the bill came out to $50+ dollars after tip which I tought was ridiculous for what I just received, I could of gone down the street to Mr. G's ordered $50 worth of food and would of got more with a better taste. Being new to the area I tend to give a chance and my money to all the food business that surround me, this one I will not be returning with the rest of my family, friends that visit me often or recommend to anyone new in the area. Looks like the beer in the evening hours is the only funds keeping this place at night because the days of when nanas great dishes were...
ย ย ย Read moreI love Mexican food. I am from the East Coast but I have eaten at some really amazing Mexican restaurants over the years as my work takes me around the country often. These include the Red Iguana in Salt Lake City and until I went to Yuma, it was my most favorite. My first trip to Yuma, a friend and colleague who lives there took us to Tacos Mi Ranchito, and now I have another favorite Mexican restaurant. First off, let me just say that the chips and salsa at this place are simply extraordinary and the best that I have ever tasted. When my boss and I are in Yuma now on business, we race to this place for lunch every chance we can get. When the chips and salsa come out, we have a ruleโฆ.โno talk - just eat - talk later.โ The main courses are equally as delicious. Everything I try is phenomenal. The chorizo/egg burrito and the Barbacoa tacos are my favorite. But everything is a winner. Literally Everything. Itโs tight inside the restaurant and it gets busy at lunchtime but itโs actually decorated nice and quaint and the food is just absolutely unreal. If you pass through Yuma and donโt stop in, itโs a huge loss for you. I am really getting hungry just thinking about this place and canโt wait for my next business...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is the second time I have had a meal here and it reassured me that it is a top notch place for a hole in the wall!!! The only knock I can give is the reviews are correct when they complain about the price, and also the reason I gave it 4 stars. It is pricier than most Mexican restaurants. But then other reviews stated the burritos are small? Apparently, they did not order the Mucho Macho burrito. This burrito is one of the largest burritos I have ever encountered. (I wish I could attach the photo of this beast!!!) The Carne asada in my burrito was tasty and cooked perfectly and abundantly filled. It came with rice and beans. 17.99 for a humongous burrito. Chips and salsa were excellent. Tortilla chips have a fritos-ish taste and the salsa was fresh with a hint of heat. Don't be fooled by the negative reviews. I highly recommend this place if you are visiting...
