Last night my husband I and a few neighbors got together for dinner at pizza amore. Overall the food was pretty good but as someone who has worked in the food industry I have some constructive criticism. My opinions are only shared because our experience as far as service goes was awful. We absolutely want this restaurant to succeed and our little town of Zebulon needs you, pizza amore!
First impressions walking in were that it was unbearably hot. I get it though, kitchen is right there and the place had a lot of people.
We sat at a table that had been unbussed for about 15 minutes before a server greeted us. No one welcomed us or acknowledged us before then. The server who came over was younger and sweet. She didn’t introduce herself so I didn’t catch her name. We ordered waters for the table and two sodas which came fairly quickly. We asked if there were limitations on the menu and she went over what she could remember. About 20 minutes went by before she took our order. We had asked her at the beginning of ordering to separate checks to help her out and she said she’d do it at the end. (This became an issue that held her up again at the end of our meal.) Upon ordering I noticed she wrote everything out vs abbreviations for things like “olive oil and vinegar” vs “o+v” and I only mention this because it does take an extra amount of time that she clearly needed. She was beyond overwhelmed. We ordered 2 wing appetizers and two salads that came out seconds before food. One of our wing orders were wrong, and absurdly over cooked and not edible. We didn’t make a fuss, just noting what was kind of a bummer. She offered to have the kitchen make a new order. We were hungry by this time, and just shared wings with the friends we had across the table to avoid waiting for a new order. They still charged us but only for half a dozen vs a whole dozen.
Drinks were never refilled or asked to be refilled, to the point we had to go get our own refills. Silverware wasn’t given, we had to ask and we had to repeatedly ask for Plates and napkins before I finally went and got them myself. My husbands sub was forgotten about and when delivered by the time everyone was finished eating. That was a bit disappointing. We had to send it back because it lacked certain things an Italian cold cut came with after referencing the menu.
Pizza, zero complaints whatsoever.
Just observing: there seems to be a lack of rotation regarding which servers and sections they’re responsible for. I can’t imagine how overwhelmed this poor girl was. The seat your own style is nice but, could use some organization. Tables remained dirty far longer than they should and instead of taking dirty plates out of the way when we set them at the edge of the table, they were ignored. Small things like that, and some better server training would really help. These seemingly small tasks going ignored is what made her forgetful and overwhelmed. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Just need a little finesse when handling a lot of people at one time. Again, these are all observations from dining in. The entire trip was over an hour and a half when we were hoping for a quick dinner. I’m sure it held up speed in which restaurants want to turn over tables. I sincerely hope this review doesn’t come off as bashing because we absolutely will return, just as carry out customers for now. I felt it necessary to share this experience if you’re needing and wanting honest reviews. I wish you all the luck and as a new business, you’re still working out the kinks. We are rooting for...
Read moreNew Zebulon Location Pizza Amore Pizzeria and Restaurant Review: 🍕 Woo!Hoo! WELCOME to Zebulon! 👋🏻 Went last night. Loved it. ❤️ I am so happy we finally have a place where I can get A slice of pizza and not a whole pizza. And reasonable! Crispy crust with just the right amount of tasty sauce. Wanted one slice and calamari to share but they don’t have that yet. Not a prob. Just something to look forward to as all falls into place. I got 2 slices... 1 with Italian sausage, mushrooms, onion, garlic and 1 with bacon, pineapple, and onion. That and tea under $10. 👏👏👏 Most “by the slice” places charge nearly a dollar per topping. Here, a slice is $2 and .60/topping. Dig it!! My only complaint, and not really even a complaint, more of a comment.... is the sweet tea isn’t very. We ordered half and half and had to get waitress to bring us a glass of sweet to add and still wasn’t very sweet. I’ve read that comment several times in other places and posts too. We ❤️love❤️ authentic NY pizza... but need our sweet tea to wash it down! 😂 I’m trying to drink more water these days so will prob just get that next time. And not a biggie for me. Just a side note... Minor service issues but cutting them some slack on that for now... does need some fine tuning. It was busy and lots of little families enjoying their meal. So nice to see in #DowntownZebulon in the evening. The calzones and other food I saw looked good too! I look forward to going back soon! Wanted to meet the owner but he wasn’t there so left my card!
Go. Enjoy. Support this new local business and spread the word!! Still getting all in place and working out little kinks so show some mercy and bear with them. And not sure, but may still only be taking cash at this point. #eatlocal...
Read moreWe live in Zebulon and when I heard about Pizza Amore I was very nervous trying it. I am a very picky eater, and I’m not crazy about trying new places! I’m not sure what all the bad reviews are about, I love the food here and so does my parents and my husband! Yes, there normally is only one or two waitresses, but I’ve never felt mistreated or ignored. Yes, some of the waitresses right all of it out, but what is an extra 1-2 minutes going to hurt? I have been over 10 times and have never felt anything but kindness and respect. I am currently sitting here now, and when I came in there was no waitress. By the time I sat down and put my baby in a seat she was walking out of the restroom and came straight to us! I hate seeing these bad reviews and honestly it leads me to believe there are some very needy people in this world. I was fine waiting the 2 minutes, because I understand not having two-three waitresses on a typical non-busy day. Food is great. Service is great in my opinion. Their grilled chicken sandwich is really good and my brother and husband love the pizza. Ignore the bad reviews of the people that just hate themselves and want a gourmet meal for fast food prices. I say give Pizza Amore a shot. I don’t think you...
