I really can’t understand the good reviews – let alone the Michelin recommendation they’re advertising. The inspectors should definitely revisit this place.
We went there a week ago with a group of eleven people and had made a reservation in advance. We were quickly shown to our table. The ambiance was nice, a lovely restaurant overall. While the last few in our group were still ordering, the first meals were already being served. However, some others had to wait much longer. Waiting times were mentioned beforehand, but in reality, they often didn’t match what was promised.
I wanted to order a Whiskey Sour and asked if I could have it without the egg white foam. Without even thinking it over, the answer came back within seconds: no. I asked them to check with the bartender. But instead of doing that, the waitress asked another waiter and again came an incredibly quick “no.” Sorry, but that’s just embarrassing. A Whiskey Sour has three ingredients, four if you include the egg white. Just leave it out and that’s it. Either they’re pre mixing the drink (which would be ridiculous for such a standard cocktail) or they simply couldn’t be bothered. Whatever the reason, it was just bad, ignorant service, plain and simple.
So I ordered a beer instead. What could possibly go wrong there, right? Well, the beer was brought to the table in a closed bottle with an empty glass beside it. The bottle cap was still on. I tried twice to get a waiter’s attention but they either didn’t look or intentionally ignored me. So I grabbed a lighter from my pocket and opened it myself. A waitress saw me doing this and just said a quick “Ohh.” That “Ohh” came so fast, it felt like another clear sign that they’d deliberately ignored me earlier. Probably thought I was going to complain again about the Whiskey Sour.
Sorry, but a sealed beer might be fine at a corner bar but not in a place that brags about a Michelin recommendation and charges these kinds of prices. So yeah, fantastic start. At that point, I had already given up the hope of getting halfway decent service.
Then my food arrived: beef in a dark sauce with some vegetables and the egg fried rice I had ordered separately. I asked for the meat to be well done (weak European stomach). The beef was very sinewy. I’ve had better beef in Vietnam for cheaper. Some pieces were properly cooked, others not that much. At least the rice was tasty and honestly, after the Whiskey Sour fiasco, I didn’t feel like saying anything else. I was honestly afraid I’d just get more eye-rolling.
The person next to me got his beef dish fairly quickly, but the two side dishes he ordered came twenty minutes later. Not great either. What are you supposed to do with rice that arrives twenty minutes after the main dish, especially when it’s meant to go with the meat? He wasn’t too happy with his beef either. Others in our group said the same the next day about their meat dishes.
Was this an unusually bad day or is this the standard? Hard to say but I will also never try to find out again.
To be fair: the fish and seafood dishes were apparently good, according to the others. I can’t speak to that personally because I didn’t order any.
What I can say is that I had serious stomach issues the next day. I found the service and food completely unacceptable for the price and as mentioned before, I cannot for the life of me understand the Michelin recommendation or the glowing reviews. There are other restaurants in Da Nang with Michelin recommendations that offer fair prices, much better service and higher food quality.
All in all, I paid a bit over half a million Dong for bad service, subpar food and stomach issues. Totally...

If you’re looking for a great meal in Da Nang, “Madame Lan restaurant “ near the Han River is not the place – unless you’re here to admire lanterns, wait forever, and pay for dishes you never really wanted by the time they arrived.
Yes, the restaurant is visually stunning. The colorful lanterns give it charm, and the lady in the long red dress greeting guests adds a classy touch – but that’s about where the positives end.
We came here for dinner and ordered some beers and local dishes. The place was completely packed with tourists, and we quickly learned why: it’s all hype, no substance. The food was bland and overly simple, not deserving of the wait or the price. Speaking of waiting – prepare yourself. Our dishes took ages to arrive. And to top it off, one dish, the tofu, didn’t even come until after we had finished everything else and were already asking for the bill. When I told the waiter we didn’t want it anymore, he shrugged and said, “The chef already made it, can’t cancel.” So yes, we paid for it, cold and unwanted.
Other tables were visibly frustrated too. Some guests were even joking or seriously asking whether this was a Michelin restaurant – I assume because someone told them it was famous. Trust me, the only thing Michelin-worthy here is the patience you need to sit through the delay. It’s not fine dining – it’s fine waiting. I waited for 15 minutes sitting before getting ordered ! And keep waiting more 25-30 minutes for each dish prepared
Here’s the real issue: this place is completely understaffed for the size and demand. If the owners care more about customer experience than tourist numbers, they need to hire more waiters and kitchen staff immediately.
Before we left, a man in a black shirt and a woman came over and asked if everything was good. I gave it to them straight: the food was below average, the delay was unacceptable, and some dishes arrived when we had already finished the meal – and we still got charged. They listened, but at that point, the damage was done.
⚠️ Warning: • Don’t expect a proper meal if you’re hungry. • Don’t come here if you’re in a hurry. • Don’t believe the Michelin rumor...
Read moreThis is a review I really don't want to write but sometimes we have to do the right thing for the right reasons, and in this case it's just to give them positive feedback for a lot of good things and some pretty bad parts.
First of all, they were just written up in the Michelin Guide 2024, they have not had time to adjust, to hire more people, to expedite and perfect their production line, and what happened was the first dish came out, which were the steamed little rice cake dishes with beautiful and delicious toppings, but which were at best warm and in some places even cold.
As we just started to eat that dish, the salad with grilled beef came out which had tasty and refreshing greens topped with very dry and very chewy beef and was served much too quickly.
Then almost immediately the third dish came out which were the spring rolls with local fish and dill and rice noodles, and they were very yummy and beautifully balanced but were again served wayyyyy too quickly.
At this point I asked the server to slow down the next dish, which were the sauteed prawns but apparently they were already prepared, and when they were brought out a little bit later the plate and the prawns were cold.
I asked the server to please redo the dish which they did but they only reheated the same prawns and veggies as the previously beautiful and green scallions on top were now cooked and inside the dish, and the prawns were very dry, so obviously just reheated.
Fortunately, after the meal the server asked us if everything was okay and I explained the situation and she told us that this is what many people have said before, so I pointed out that it would probably be a good idea to bring it up to the cooks or the chef or the owner again as the dishes themselves would be fantastic, the menu is extensive and wonderful, the service is very efficient and friendly and the surroundings and atmosphere are absolutely perfect.
I'm sure in a few weeks or months this place will live up to its reputation and will again serve the dishes that they have served before their fame, and I will be back for another visit and for...
