I have mixed feelings about this place. There were no ratings on google before we went in but it looked interesting. It sits on the water with individual areas for each of the tables which is a nice idea. The food is almost completely Asian food (lots of unusual foods, snake, turtle, frog and that sort of thing) which was fine, we weren't looking for western food but children from western countries may not like anything on the menu. The food we received was well presented and tasted good. It was less of a meal than just a plate of the food we ordered. In our case that was crab, pork and rice with nothing else on the plate. It would be best to order a few different things and share.
The staff were friendly but spoke little English which is fairly common through Vietnam so be prepared to point at menu items and spend some time telling the waitress your order.
The bad parts. The raised wooden platforms feel tired and shaky, they held up ok but I dont know for how long they will remain above the water. There could have been a little more effort into the presentation of the restaurant its self with exposed lights, table cloths with holes and broken fans. The worst part of the experience and really the only thing that put me off was the bathroom was also on a raised platform and every time someone went to the toilet and flushed we heard the toilet water splash into the water below and could swear we could smell it a little after.
Over all it was an experience, not one I'd necessarily repeat but I don't wish I'd gone elsewhere.
Hopefully this helps in your decision to visit...
Read moreContrary to many reviews here, our service was excellent - helpful and friendly. that might have been because of person who serves us and because it seems we were more early than most guests (later many people come).
with just the two of us, we onl;y ordered thre dishes, but they were all very tasty. actually the three were a good combination - prawn and lotus salad, roasted pigeon, and a tangy tasty stuffed fish.
everything came from the kitchen super fast. very efficient operation (because they have to bring from large kitchen to places along the river and dam).
all the wine is too expensive: think about 700-800k; the saving fgrace was that you can bring your own and just pay 50k fee. makes it very enjoyable.
we had a table and 'hut' right at the front. helpful girl set up small table for the two of us (they are all normally set up for large number - 8-12): because we deliberately came more early to experince sunset and dusk overlooking the main river, it was extremely pleasant outlook and with pleasant cool breeze. and people watching of the people who walk along the river.
because of Tet, cost up 10%, plus fee for wine, and total cost about 550k for all. with location and ambience and Tet, i think good value, and such...
Read moreWalking over the bridge from the walking street you can see the entry of the restaurant. Somehow the path was blocked so we could take a side entry or thats what it looked like. The restaurant is like an archipelago of little islands out of wooden huds with different sized tables. It is perfect for small to big groups and feels quite privat even if one can see all the other guests from a far. Sadly the table was quite filthy, it had a lot of fat stains in the blanket. The plates were already placed and after looking at them i felt like it is necessary to really dry scrub them with a paper towel. We ordered one appetizer and 2 main dishes, somehow they brought a wrong main dish. My plate of chili and salt squid wasnt really my thing. It tastet quite boring / i have eaten better squids elsrwhere. The steak and fries with vegetables which was the second main dish was okay, just the fries were already soaked up with sauce and not so enjoyable. They surely have some...
