Edit: the Restaurant actually has changed their policy: no more surcharge on bank transfers. I corrected the rating from one to 4 stars.
My initial review: The setting along the river is beautiful and carries a touch of romance. The food is very good, with some dishes truly excellent, and the service is both friendly and efficient.
Unfortunately, I feel compelled to give a one-star rating due to the restaurant’s questionable charging practices.
When paying in cash, the printed bill shows only 0.1% of the real amount, even though they still collect the full price. This raises serious concerns about transparency and tax evasion.
If you pay by card or bank transfer, an additional 10% is added to the bill — which is outrageous. By law, restaurants in Vietnam are not permitted to impose surcharges for card payments, and 10% is excessive by any standard.
Applying the same surcharge to bank transfers, which are instant and fee-free, is even more unreasonable.
If you are interested, this is the law:

According to Article 8 of these regulations, one of the prohibited practices for merchants is “collecting additional fees or engaging in price discrimination against cardholders when making...
Read moreMy family and I spent 13 days in Vietnam and we concluded our trip with an unforgettable and AMAZING dinner at Cobb Restaurant. The restaurant is located a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of the Old Town, which was a quiet respite after a long day of exploring.
We started off our meal with clam chowder which was tasty and packed generously with fresh clams and vegetables. We also had sautéed mussels and clams which were super sweet and fresh. The white wine broth which the mussels and clams were served in was so fragrant and umami, we could not stop slurping it up.
For mains, we had steak with a special order of truffle fries, and steamed fish with assorted seafood in white wine. Both dishes were STELLAR. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. It just melted in our mouths. The steamed fish took some skill to eat (as there are many fine bones), but the effort was worth it as the flesh was so fresh and buttery.
We finished our meal with cheesecake and rum and raisin ice cream, both which...
Read moreWe went for dinner. The Tuna and avocado tartare was excellent as was the Rose’. My chowder was ok but the flavor and texture of the base tended to overpower the clams. With so much good seafood available I would have thought that the restaurant really had an opportunity to let the clam flavor shine through. We shared the large lobster. To be honest a disappointment. It was NOT large. For the money you get better offerings at An Bang beach. It was presented with an elaborate plating but more mushrooms than lobster. My recommendation again would be to let the lobster shine. The truffle fries were disappointing. Tasted like they were not double cooked. Kind of hard and greasy. Need a major revamp. Get the “how to fry cookbook out” The atmosphere was a bit weird as by 8 we were the only ones in the Restaurant. The final disappointment was when the restaurant tried to charge a 5% card fee. 3% is normal. The extra 2 is just a rip off. We paid...
